Meet Jaxon

Jaxon
2yr old Lab/Boxer mix

Jaxon is a two-year old black lab mix who is a loyal and faithful friend to his favourite humans. He enjoys being around his people as much as possible. Having a family of his very own would make Jaxon’s dream come true.

Jaxon shares his foster home with two other dogs that he gets along well with. He prefers slow introductions with new human and canine friends, but once he feels safe he is happy to share his space. He does not initiate play with the dogs in his foster home, but is comfortable being with them. He can sometimes be the fun police when they get too rambunctious and he is unable or unwilling to keep up with them. For this reason, we think Jaxon would be happiest as the only dog or with a low energy dog who doesn’t want a playmate.

Jaxon is an incredible guard dog, whether you require his services or not. He barks at all the things outside the front door that may or may not be a threat to him and his foster family. He needs reminders to chill out and take a breath. We are working on redirecting him and keeping him in a calm state. He would be best suited in a detached home because of his talkativeness.

Jaxon had a very unfortunate accident in May that resulted in a front leg amputation. He is learning to navigate the world on three legs and shows us everyday that he’s a rock star. Leashed walks are a big thing in Jaxon’s world and are part of his daily routine. He requires frequent breaks and is only able to manage short 10-15 minute walks at present. As he builds up his strength and stamina this may change, but in the meantime he loves what his foster dad calls his “hops and stops”. He has a quiet park near his foster home where he can comfortably pause and rest in the shade. He is very much a stop and smell the roses kind of guy, so an adopter who enjoys slow strolls would be an ideal match.

Jaxon is able to navigate 5-6 stairs in his foster home, but would probably do best long-term in a home with minimal stairs. Carpet or carpet runners may also improve his mobility and safety. He enjoys car rides and lounging in the backyard. He can get rowdy at the fence when the neighbour dogs come barking, but he’s generally content to rest outside and doesn’t react to squirrels, birds, or the sounds of children playing nearby. He loves to eat and never says no to snacks. If you’re looking for a smart, loyal dog whose strength and resiliency show no limits and you are willing to provide him a safe and loving forever home, look no further than our boy Jax.
Jax has been vaccinated, dewormed, neutered, heartworm tested, microchipped and treated with Revolution. He came to us as an unclaimed stray from LACC
