Meet Jax

I can't lie, Jax is my kind of guy. He has so much potential to become an incredible partner for the right person. He's soft, very sweet, a quick study, walks nicely on leash, has been fine with other dogs, and rides great in a vehicle (crated).
.
What's wrong with Jax? He's terrified. Today is day 5 here, and he's still trembling. He's in shut down mode, though he's coming around....very, very slowly - he finally pooped on day 4.
.
Applicants interested in applying for Jax should have direct, personal experience with herding breeds, and shy, fearful dogs that need confidence building. Jax's adopter will be required to attend group training classes. While we do not feel that Jax is a sports prospect, he may surprise us, but at the least, will benefit from continued exposure to strange people, places, and things, and building partnership will benefit him greatly.
.
Jax was relinquished to a shelter because he was not doing well with the toddler in the home. Jax will not be placed with children.
.
Jax will do best in an adult centric home with another confident, friendly dog already in residence. While Jax appears to be 'ok' on his own, he visibly relaxes when in the company of other quiet, friendly dogs.
.
PLEASE READ our procedures for adoption prior to making inquiry regarding this dog. If you are looking for additional photos, video, or information on this dog, you will likely find that by searching our facebook page for their photo/description album.
.
Please see our main website at www.mabcr.org for more information regarding the adoption of this or any dog from our rescue.
.
Please note that while this dog is currently available, any dog on our site may have an adoption pending and may not be available to you at this time. The same dog may later become available if the adoption falls through.
.
Our website www.mabcr.org will give you details on our adoption procedures as well as an application for adoption. An application must be submitted prior to 'matching' an adopter with a dog as all dogs do not fit into all homes. We pride ourselves in our adoption process, we take the time to get to know our adopters so that we can place a dog with them that they can enjoy for years to come.
.
Please understand that we will not discuss dogs with individual adopters until after the application process is completed.
.
Our rescue does not have a public facility, therefore there are no visiting hours. Appointments to visit with the available dogs are made after the application process has been completed by our staff.
.
To assist any dog within the MABCR organization, please consider making a donation to the general fund or to the medical fund. All dogs coming into our rescue are fully vetted (s/n and core vaccines) prior to adoption.
.
Rescuing animals is quite expensive. If you are unable to adopt, but would like to help this, or any other animal in our system, please consider a sponsorship donation.
For information on our sponsorship program, please contact Sarah at SLR@mabcr.org.
.
Thank you for your interest in Mid-Atlantic Border Collie Rescue.
