Meet Jax
Meet Jax! A super sweet ~5 year old, 41 pound, Shepherd mix. Jax is timid at first, but loves to be around people. He is great with kids and other dogs. Jax loves to be petted, is very chill, and house trained to boot!
He would do well in a house with people around a lot. He is a bit scared of cars during long walks and will need to be walked on a harness since he has a slender neck and a regular collar could slip off. He loves spending time sun bathing outside in a yard or on a patio. And what a handsome guy!!
This poor sweetie came in with Lyme disease, which isn't surprising seeing as how he was found as a stray. Lyme is a tick borne disease that is not contagious to other dogs or humans but will remain in Jax's system throughout his life.
Jax may have an occasional flare-up which would be indicated by joint pain/inflammation, limping, lethargy and possible loss of appetite. Typically a dose of antibiotics is enough to make the disease go dormant again. To help control the Lyme, Jax will need a yearly Lyme vaccine. Should he have multiple flare ups in a short amount of time, his kidneys could be affected.
Lyme has become more prevalent in the southern states, and many dogs with this disease have lived long happy lives!
If you would like to meet Jax, please go to our website at www.rescueahart.org and fill out an online adoption application.
All HART dogs are spayed/neutered, microchipped and up to date on all vaccines, including bordatella and rabies. They are heartworm tested and on preventative for heartworm, fleas, and ticks. If you are interested in any of our pets, you must complete an online dog adoption application at www.rescueAhart.org . The application will put you in touch with this wonderful dog's foster family so you can schedule a meeting. Thanks! www.rescueAhart.org
