JASPER is a super intelligent 3 year old Australian Shepherd looking for an experienced Aussie home.
A country home environment with an adopter who likes to keep their social circle small and just enjoy life with their furry buddy would be ideal.
He's a stunning lovable pup who sadly, was previously mistreated by his owner. So we are looking for an adopter willing to consult with his trainer and follow her advice for success!
When he decides he loves you, he holds nothing back, wiggles with delight at your arrival (even if it's only been a matter of minutes), and will let you do anything with him once you are bonded (including baths, taking things from his mouth, brushing, playing). You couldn't ask for a better friend and he is worth the effort!!
Lives to please his people and enjoys running/playing with his people.
An adopter who will be home mostly, give lots of positive ongoing interaction and help him feel safe in a stable environment would be best for this velcro boy.
Having a calm, companion dog who would enjoy playing and racing around in the yard with Jasper, but is not dominant, would be great.
Moderate energy guy. Happy to lay near you while you work at home and happy to go for a run with his human.
Would be a great running or hiking partner on private land, away from civilization, with just his people.
More comfortable with women than men at first until he gets used to the men in his pack.
Needs to be introduced to new people and not be forced to interact with them.
A home without children will only be considered.
He can be sensitive to noisy things like vacuums so he needs to be given another space, like his crate, to feel safe.
Housetrained when taken out in a timely manner.
Crate trained - but we are looking for a home where he will not be crated for many hours.
He easily goes into his crate as his 'safe space' when told, which is great for when new people come to the house.
Sleeps through the night on his own bed in his foster's room.
Not an incessant barker, but will alert you to strangers and to initiate play.
Having a human give him simple jobs will let him engage his brain and make him happy. Great way to bond as well.
Loves playing inside and outside, playing frisbee, fetch, keep away.
Inside he likes belly rubs, chewing on bones, chew toys and relaxing with his humans.
Not destructive, but needs appropriate chew toys/bones to keep him entertained.
Jasper has become very close with the mini aussie in his foster home, sharing toys, bones, humans and life, but he needs careful introduction to new dogs.
He is not dominant, but would do best in a home with an easy going well balanced dog or no other dogs.
Jasper really enjoys walks, but in lower unpopulated areas of familiarity where he won't encounter lots of people or other dogs.
Has great recall and enjoys one on one activities with his humans.
Knows basic commands 'sit, crate, lay down, stand, leave it, off, come, stay, walk, ok and enough.
Enjoys learning new tricks/commands.
Very treat motivated which is helpful for training.
Only homes with a fully fenced yard where he won't be left alone for long hours will be considered.
No apartments or city life for this guy please. He's a country boy at heart looking for a human(s) to share his life.
Has not been cat tested, so we will not be adopting him to a home with cats. He does like to chase squirrels, birds and bunnies, but hasn't harmed any.
Jasper is 35 lbs. neutered, microchipped, up to date on vaccines, including rabies, heartworm negative and current on prevention.
