Meet Jasper

Jasper is a sweet, gentle boy who spent many months on his own wandering the countryside. He gets startled easily, which made him hard to catch, but eventually he decided to approach a kind human.

Since Jasper has been with us he has been nothing but sweet. We have been taking things slow, but he has shown us that he is ready to be a normal dog and learn how to live his best life.

Jasper enjoys going for walks on the leash and meeting new dogs. He is a gentleman on the leash and enjoys scratches behind the ears. Jasper is friendly with people, but potential adopters should be mindful that he might be frightened of young children, a busy household, etc.

Jasper is considered a flight-risk, so adopters should make sure their outdoor space is safe and very secure. Jasper will want a yard to play in.

If you would like to visit one our amazing pups, please review the policies below, complete an online application www.adoptmountainpets.org and give us call if you have any questions prior to coming by. 970 626 2273

Adopters will be considered on the totality of the application and how it matches the particular pet's needs.

We often adopt same day as the first visit an interview but it is not guaranteed. Some dogs will take multiple visits and adopters are approved based on the best fit for the particular animal being considered. We do not hold pets during the process.

Most dogs who come from the shelter will not be house trained.

Most adoptable dogs will need some reintroduction into a home, potty training, basic manners and social skills. Please be prepared to provide that training and dedication that will be needed.

We do not have any way of knowing if a dog or cat will do well with all children or all other animals.

It is important everyone in the home is introduced to the new pet.

We also require that any family dogs come into meet your potential adoptee. Please be sure your dogs are spayed or neutered and current on vaccines (distemper - parvo and rabies) before bringing them to the shelter.

All dogs must be transported home in a travel crate to transport your new pup home safely.

Renters must provide a copy of a lease indicating pets are allowed or contact information for the landlord.

If you are interested in meeting or adopting one of our pets or have questions about the process please see our website at www.adoptmountainpets.org or call the Shelter between 11:00 am and 5:45 pm Tuesday through Saturday. 970 626 2273
