Janis Summary:
Janis is a 3-year-old female, 56lb Great Pyrenees/Husky mix. Janis is so sweet. Most likely, she will be timid at first. She is playful and loving once she feels at home. She is smart and eager to please. She loves playing outside, getting her energy out, and then will relax by your side.

Janis would do well as an only dog if she gets plenty of exercise and attention. She loves to play so if there is another dog in the home she would love it.
____________________________________________

Janis is the kind of dog that you cannot help but fall in love with. She is a very sweet girl that has not had the easiest life. She found herself abandoned in the middle of nowhere and pregnant. She wandered around on her own for a while before she finally ended up at a house that didn't chase her off or shoot at her. They were not prepared to take on another dog and her puppies though, and they spent most of their time outside. They gave some of the puppies away but ended up surrendering Janis, and two of her babies Yo-Na and Tony Bark to us.

Janis was absolutely petrified when she came to us. I don't think the poor girl had ever been in a car, and when it came to coming inside the house she was also very nervous and unsure. Despite her probably going through yet another big change, she has adjusted really nicely now. She loves being near her foster family, playing in the yard with the other dogs and then cuddling up to her people at night. Janis came to us a bit malnourished. She is pretty skinny, and it looks like her coat has thinned out pretty well. While we don't expect her to be super fluffy, we do think she will eventually have more of a Husky-type coat once she is back to her full glory. She weighs around 56lbs, and will probably top out around 65lbs or so. We are estimating her to be around 3 years old.

Janis is looking for her forever family. She is looking for a family that is patient, very loving, and wants to spoil this girl to the moon and back! To help ensure she is a good fit for your family, be sure to read on!

-How does your foster act when meeting new people?
A little timid. She will give a tail wag.

-Has your foster been to any public settings?
No.

-Does your foster like going on walks?
She is a little unsure but getting better!

-Do you think your foster would enjoy going on hikes?
She may. She would definitely need to feel secure in her new home and with her people before they start trying to take her to new places.

-Is your foster leash trained?
We feel she had never been on a leash before coming to us so we are working with her in getting more comfortable.

-How does your foster ride in the car?
She will hop right in and seems to enjoy it.

-Does your foster jump on people?
No.

-Describe your foster dog's energy level?
She is a younger dog that probably didn't have the best puppyhood. Everything is new to her, and it is so fun to see her open up a little more each day. Right now, she is full of wonder and has that lovable puppy energy despite her being older!

-Is your foster a big chewer?
She is given plenty of chew bones. She isn’t sure what she is allowed to chew on at this point.

-Does your foster like to play fetch?
No.

-Does your foster like to play in the
water?
She likes to wade in water.

-Does your foster play with Toys?
Yes.

-Does your foster have food aggression?
No.

-Does your foster resource guard?
No.

-Do you think your foster would be okay with free-roam of the house even if you are away?
Given how she is still new to the whole house thing, probably not quite yet. While she is not destructive, she is curious and may still get into things.

-Is your foster potty trained?
Yes.

-Is your foster kennel trained?
Yes, but she is not a big fan of the kennel.

-Where does your foster stay when no one is home?
She is currently kenneled when we are away.

-Where does your foster sleep at night?
Free roam of the house.

-Would your foster dog do good in an apartment?
I guess as long as she gets plenty of exercise.

-Is your foster a big barker?
No.

-Is your foster good with other dogs?
Yes.

-How does your foster act around other dogs?
She loves to play. She knows the ones that like to play also and is indifferent to the others that don't.

-Does your foster need another dog in his new home?
She would enjoy it.

-Is your foster good with cats?
Yes.

-Is your foster good with kids?
Not sure she hadn’t been around any since being with us. She might think their toys are her toys too!

Now that you know more about Janis, it is time to talk about the logistics of making her yours ;)!

-How can someone adopt her?
The first step is to fill out an adoption app for her at https://www.pyrpawsandfluffytailsrescue.com/adoption-app

Once this app comes in, it will get sent on to her foster family for consideration.

-Where is she being fostered?
She is being fostered in Purcell, OK

-Would I need to come to pick my new dog up?
Yes, you would need to pick your new dog up. We do not send our dogs on transport. It is less stress on them that way. Plus, this way you and your new family member can already start bonding on the road trip home! ?

-Can we adopt even if we do not live in Oklahoma?
Yes, we do adopt out of state.

-How much is her adoption fee?

Her adoption fee is $250.

That includes DHLPP, Rabies, and Bordetella. She will be micro-chipped, have a fecal done, be de-wormed, be spayed/neutered, and will be current on heart-worm and flea/tick prevention.
