Welcome to America, Janay!!

Janay is a Freedom Flyer from South Korea who arrived in Los Angeles on April 5, 2022!

Janay is a beautiful female Brittany Spaniel! She weighs 32 pounds and is estimated to be in the range of 2-5 years old.

*** JANAY NEEDS A HOME WITH A BACK YARD LARGE ENOUGH FOR THIS ENERGETIC GIRL TO RUN AND PLAY!! ***

RECENT UPDATES FROM JANAY'S FOSTER FAMILY:

Janay has a lot of puppy energy and charms everyone she meets with her winsome manner and desire to make friends with everyone she meets. She is energetic & playful - dog-friendly and submissive with other dogs.

She is very nice girl who is friendly with people, and seeks human interaction. She really loves being with her people and is in her element as a snuggle buddy! She bonds quickly and is very trusting and wants to please and be near you.

On occasion she can be a little mouthy or energetic in her playstyle, but she is learning to stop any naughty behavior if you ask her to, and she will sit while she waits for you to tell her what you want her to do instead (which is usually to chew on a toy, and she is happy to oblige).

She loves toys and is happy to share them with you. She will let you take things from her without ever growling or really showing any disagreement at all, though she appreciates hearing you praise her for it. She even seems to enjoy having her teeth brushed.

Janay has done great with potty training and will only go outside so long as you give her the opportunity to do so. She is generally very calm in the car until she knows it is time to get out and start the next adventure. She is quickly learning her leash training and is starting to understand "heel," "leave it," and how to walk next to her foster mom instead of in front of her!

She absolutely loves her walks and will be very grateful to you for taking her on them! She also will let you know when she is getting tired by lying down on the ground, grass, or even in the plants for a quick rest -- not to worry, she always springs right back up once she sees that you're ready to move on.

Janay does well with exercise and stimulation, though she is also a fantastic sleeper and will adjust her bedtime and wake-up schedule to whatever her person is up to!

Janay was rescued with an injury to her rear left leg, which was treated in South Korea. Camp Cocker has scheduled an Orthopedic consult for Janay on April 28 to help determine if further medical attention is needed. We anticipate that she will benefit from physical therapy to strengthen the musculature in her left leg. We think she will be a great patient due to her eagerness to please and willingness to let her foster mom touch and stretch her leg. For now, she is walking normally (and fast!), but she still favors the leg.

MEDICAL UPDATES:

UPDATE: On 4/28 Janay had a surgical consult with a board-certified specialist at the VCA West LA animal hospital. New x-rays were taken and the surgery on the left ankle appears to have healed. Scar tissue is present, and the joint doesn't have full range of motion. Physical therapy will help with this. But the GREAT news is no more surgery!

Recommendations include: (1) Weight management - her current weight is perfect! (2) Omega 3 fatty acid supplements, and (3) PT - physical therapy to help with range of motion and to build muscle mass.

As a result of this latest good news, we can make Janay available for adoption beyond the Los Angeles area, with the adopter's commitment to the three recommendations listed above. Camp Cocker is willing to sponsor 2-3 months of PT - either locally, or in the adopter's area for a non-local adoption.
