Meet James - a 54 pound, Boxer/Shepherd mix boy who is approximately 2 years old. We can't believe this handsome boy has been looking for his forever family for FOUR MONTHS. I mean look at him!!!
This boy was found wandering among houses and, after being picked up, we found that his owner no longer wanted him. He such a sweet boy - and has such a gorgeous brindle coat. It is so hard to believe he wasn't wanted!
His foster mom says "James is such a nice pup! He is energetic, friendly and fun! Those are just some of his great qualities. He is friendly with other dogs and likes to play with them. He hasn't met any cats here so we are not sure how he will do with them. A fenced in yard would probably be best since he likes being outside and roaming around and enjoying the sun. He meets people well, but we think older kids might be better for him as he does jump a bit to say hi - but it is getting better every day since we are working on it with him. We really think he just needs a little love and to learn his inside manners again after being on his own - and then we know he is going to make a great companion. He is doing well on his leash skills - he pulls a little but it is more that he is a big guy (a little training will go a long way). We are working with him on skills here and he has already learned sit. His name can be changed as his owner never told us his given name. He is such a good boy, and we are so hopefully that a great family is going to give him a second shot at a home. He absolutely deserves the best!"
All dogs are up to date on vaccinations and spayed/neutered at the time of adoption. All dogs require professional training to become the best family member they can be.

PLEASE READ: If a dog is listed, then s/he is currently available for adoption. Their information is correct to the best of our abilities and the information we have been given as of the day of posting. Please note, GDRNE does not guarantee the breed of any dog or puppy unless stated that we have run DNA. All breeds listed are educated estimates. Note that if the dog is listed as an "Out of town pet" there are NOT additional transport fees - it is included in our adoption fee Our dogs are rescued from various situations. It is most likely that both their parents were strays and even if not, mixes of some sort and that their grandparents were mixes as well. The dog may have some genetic material of an American Staffordshire Terrier (pit bull). The dogs are usually mixes of many breeds, making them a breed all their own - a True and adorable American MUTT. If you are interested in this dog, you must submit an application. Great Dog is not a shelter so there is no building you can visit. Our dogs live in private foster homes until adopted.
