Meet Jake

DEC 19: Yes, Mr Jake has arrived! He's a little shy at the moment, trying to figure out why everyone is shuffling him around and what happened to his mommy. So sad. But he's a good boy, and he wants to figure everything out. He plays great with my other dogs and he's pretty mellow most fo the time. I look forward to getting to know this sweet boy as he comes out of his shell more.NOV 29: Jake is coming to me from St Louis. His owner is moving to FL and not taking him along. They had a talk and he told her he wanted to come to San Diego to live in warm weather so she agreed to let me have him. He is currently in a temporary foster situation waiting for transport. He's going to catch a ride with the same trucker that brought Dodie out, so he should be arriving either the weekend of the 13th or the weekend of the 20th. Here's what his former owner said in her post about him:"His name is Jake, he is 19 months old and has been with me [the former owner] since he was 3 months. He is neutered and up to date on all of his shots. He is about 45 pounds. He is partly beagle, but tan/blonde in color with white on his tummy, neck and paws. He knows sit really well, stay he is ok with and will be great with a small bit of work. He is learning to shake too. He is crate/kennel trained, house broken and walks pretty well on a leash after the initial excitement wears off. He is doggy door trained. He loves other dogs. He does not get along with cats. He is still a puppy and has puppy energy. He is not overly energetic like some breeds, but for sure an active guy. He loves his blankets and will happily carry them all around the house (just like Linus from Charlie Brown). He also has an odd attraction to my DirecTV remote - no others, just that one. He does like to tear the stuffing out of stuffed toys...that is his greatest joy in a day. He loves rawhide chews (but doesn't get many due to his tummy) and any stick he can find in the yard, large or small, he will try to bring them in the house to chew. His ONLY downfall, if you want to call it that, is that he has a sensitive tummy with a lot of foods (I have never fed him table food). I have had him to the vet and we have changed his food to a sensitive tummy version, which has done the trick!"Well, I don't consider a sensitive tummy a downside, so he sounds pretty perfect to me! His temp foster agrees he is really great with other dogs and EXCELLENT with children - all in all an extraordinary disposition. She thinks he is a lab mix more than a beagle mix, which is why I have him listed as a beagle/lab mix. In all honesty, I have no idea what is in this boy. Does it really matter in the end? I can't wait to meet this special boy for myself!! Stay tuned!!
