Meet Jackie

***Jackie the beauty is ready for someone to welcome her to the family!***

From his foster mom:
"Jackie is a 3-year-old, 51lb Great Pyrenees/Aussie mix. Jackie is super sweet. She loves being around you, she doesn’t give you much space on the couch, lol! She loves toys and balls. I think eventually she would like to play fetch. She is great with all our dogs. She has patience during feeding time, she will go to her crate and sit and wait for her food (which is something to me, seeing as she was so underweight when we got her) She has a cute happy go lucky personality. "

I don't know about you guys, but I absolutely swoon for the dogs with badger faces. I mean look at this girl! She is stunningly beautiful, and along with that, she has such a sweet and loving personality! Jackie loves being close to her foster family and is her foster mom's sidekick. She tends to be wherever her people are! Jackie ended up in the shelter after her owner passed away and she was found on the property. She was emaciated and malnourished. The shelter needed a place for her to go, and reached out to us to see if we had room. One look at her face, and her foster family knew they had to help. We don't know what her past life was like, but given the condition, she was found in...it probably was not the best. Our guess is she was kept mainly outside with little to no interaction from her people. Along with that, this sweet girl came out heartworm positive. She was so emaciated and malnourished that it took a month just to be able to spay her. Now, that she has that over with it is time to start her heartworm treatment and she should be ready to go home around the second week of December. So, for those who want to adopt but aren't quite ready yet...this is your chance! And boy what a girl to choose for it because this girl is a GEM!

Jackie is good with other dogs and will sometimes engage in some light play with them. She is not a crazy player though, so would be perfect for a dog who is like her. They sometimes like to play, but other times they like to just chill and relax. Jackie is on the calmer side but does enjoy playing with toys...particularly chew bones. Jackie has not been around cats but given her more chill personality we think she would be fine with them. Jackie is not being fostered around any kids, given her love for people she would probably do well with them. However, Jackie prefers quieter more chill life, so it would be best that the kiddos be older and quieter. If they were super rowdy and noisy, she would probably get scared and try to hide. Jackie loves spending time with her people and follows them everywhere. With that said, she won't just automatically love you. You have to earn her trust and love. When she first meets someone, she tends to keep her distance and watch from afar. After she realizes that you are in it for the long run, she will be your best and most loyal companion!

Jackie hasn't been out in public all that much. Since she is heartworm positive right now, it is important that she isn't super active. Because of this, she hasn't been on walks yet either. Given her personality, this probably suits her just fine. Jackie is definitely more of a homebody right now and would rather be at home chilling with her family than going to several different places. She does love being with her people, so in time she may enjoy going somewhere every once in a while with her family or on walks. Right now it isn't in the cards as she undergoes treatment, but that will be a fun adventure for her and her new family! Jackie needs some encouragement to get in the car, but once in she rides really well. Our guess is she never went anywhere in her former home, so the car is a new thing for her and she seems unsure of what is going to happen. With that said, she is a trooper and tends to just chill out in the backseat and wait to see where you are taking her.

Jackie is potty trained, but she does sometimes submissive pee when she gets really nervous. You have to keep in mind that this girl didn't come from a loving home that took good care of her. So, she is still learning that nothing bad is going to happen to her. Given her past, she is doing really amazing. She continues to open up more and more each day and has become quite the velcro dog. It is so fun to watch them start to act like a normal dog, and simply enjoy life and see what it means to be part of a family! ♥ Jackie is also kennel trained. She is not a big chewer, but if she feels you are gone too long, she will help you with couponing! The only thing is she will help tear pieces of paper and magazines up that have no coupons on them...oh and sometimes she manages to tear the coupon up a little too much if there is one...but who is perfect?! ;) Jackie has not shown to have any issues with food aggression or resource guarding in her foster home. She also has not been a big barker but that doesn't mean that she doesn't bark at all. If she hears something strange, then like any dog(besides those unicorn dogs who don't make a peep-which I still wonder if they truly exist) she will happily alert the house that something was amiss.

Jackie may be a candidate for apartment living. She loves her people so her new family would need to be home a lot, and be okay working with her on the leash. She walks pretty well already but would definitely benefit from some more training. This girl is making up for lost time with people that love her. She loves to be right next to you and will follow you around the house. She doesn’t want her foster family to be too far out of her sight. This said, we think she would do well as an only dog if her new family was home a lot. Being alone during a full workday just wouldn't cut it for this lovebug! A family on the calmer side would also be best, it might make her nervous if there is too much going on.

If you are interested in offering this gorgeous badger-faced girl a forever home, you can apply to adopt her at
https://www.pyrpawsandfluffytailsrescue.com/adoption-app

Once this app comes in, it will be sent to her foster family. This is to help ensure that it is not only a good fit for you but Jackie as well. And don't forget that she won't be able to go home with you until the second week of December!

Jackie is being fostered in Purcell, OK. If you have fallen in love with him and are out of state, how about a road trip? We don't send our fluffy butts on commercial transports. So, if you want one of our amazing fluffy butts, it is time to plan a trip to good ole Oklahoma ?

Her adoption fee is $250.00.
That will include his DHLPP, Rabies, and Bordetella. She will be micro-chipped, have a fecal done, be de-wormed, be spayed/neutered, and will be current on heartworm and flea/tick prevention.
