Jack's Story

Meet Jack! This handsome 10 year old boy was brought to ACCT Philly on April 27th when his owners were no longer able to care for him. Jack's family described him as fully housebroken and crate trained with a medium energy level, enjoying leisurely walks. Jack previously lived with adults as well as kids, and loved sleeping on the couch at night.

Jack is a fan of all types of toys, and his owners noted that he loves to explore outdoors on walks, go to the dog park to play with other pups, play fetch and tug-of-war, and just chill at home with his family. This super-smart boy already knows numerous commands including his name, Sit, Down, Lay down, No, Off, Stay, Wait, Heel, Drop it, Leave it, and Go potty. Jack's only training need noted by his previous owners is that he sometimes pulls hard on his leash, so he might benefit from a little extra support in that area. Jack was noted by his owners to be super friendly with kids and other dogs, though he may have mixed reactions to cats as well as small animals outdoors like squirrels.

When it comes to his medical needs, Jack is an older boy and like most senior pets he's going to need a little extra support to keep his health on point. Jack's owners noted he is in good health overall but may have some dental issues, which will be further evaluated during his time at the shelter. Adopters for senior pups like Jack should feel prepared for regular senior exams to screen for health issues common to dogs his age, and ensure he is in tip-top shape for many years to come.

When asked what kind of home and family Jack would like, his owners had this to say: "Loves attention, playing fetch, [he's] comfortable in house and around people and pets after initial greeting and then wants to play or be friendly, and loves being petted. Well trained. Would like to see him get adopted to a family that would love and take care of him. Great character, very friendly, loves to be around people and pets."

Ready to make this very special boy part of your family? Come meet him at ACCT Philly, open daily from 10am to 6pm!
