Meet Jack

YOU MUST HAVE AN APPROVED APPLICATION IN ORDER TO SET UP A TIME TO MEET OUR PETS.

Jack is a super energetic, friendly, happy as can be 1 year old, 15 pound boy who was dumped from a car and taken in by a kind person who fostered him for a week.

If you are a Jack Russell fan and love the enthusiastic, bouncy, confident, gung ho attitude of the JR, you will love this guy!

He has boundless energy, as JR lovers expect, and, since he is still really just a puppy, will need an owner who knows how to work with a super smart dog and reign in that energy a bit.

He does not seem to have had any manners training yet but, wow, is he intelligent! He is attentive to people and so alert and ready to learn.

Jack is CRAZY about toys, just loves them and seems to be able to amuse himself endlessly, as long as he has an audience, since he loves people, too. He learned in about two tries that dropping his toy meant he got a treat and went from being a goof ball who gleefully whipped his toy away from the person wanting it, to dropping it at the persons feet in anticipation of a goodie. Also, when supervised, he does not seem interested in tearing apart his toys since that would end the fun of tossing and pouncing and running around with them in his mouth.

Smarty pants Jack quickly figures out that if good behavior gets him something good, he can happily oblige as long as he knows the person asking him to do something is smarter than he is! Why follow a leader who does not know what they are doing? This is the JR philosophy. Bright minded terriers LOVE guidance and structure.

Jack is super alert and will alert you to any new sights and sounds so would be a great watch dog.

He likes car rides but needs to be crated in the car since he gets so excited. His foster said he was fine in his crate.

His foster mom also said he was good with other dogs and actually scared of their cat, kind of funny for a pup this confident. We usually do not recommend pairing a bouncy JR puppy with a cat, however. He is a bit of an intense greeter of both new people and dogs, just throws himself confidently in the mix without much thought, so he does need to learn meet and greet manners with other dogs and not to jump up on people.

He is best playing with a non dominant doggie friend and loves to zoom around the play yard and chase a friend. Naturally, he would need to be properly introduced to any new dog friend to make sure they are compatible and there is not too much energy or dominance between them.

Like any Jack Russell worth his salt, our Jack is an excellent jumper, a wonderfully fit and athletic boy, so a tall fenced yard is necessary if you plan to let him play loose in your fenced yard. He loves to run so would really enjoy a fenced yard to burn off that extra energy.

He does need to work on his housetraining skills but all he needs is the right motivation and training and he will be fine. The temporary use of a belly band would help prevent accidents while he is learning.

Adoption donation $175.
