No one wants puppies to be raised in a shelter or kennel. At only 11 months old, Irving has already spent almost a third of his life without a forever home.
Irving is a handsome pooch! When you meet this beautiful red coated boy, you will fall in love with his big bully smile in moments.
Irving is a young boy with all of that typical puppy energy that needs to be managed. He is quite the lap dog and loves to climb up in your lap to watch his surroundings.
After the initial excitement about going for a walk, Irving’s a pro who doesn’t pull except he wants to meet everyone as he is so curious. More human interaction will help with that.
He plays every day at Good CitiZen Dog Training where he is currently boarding. He has been great with every dog that he has met. He seems to do really well with patient and calm dogs or other dogs who match his energy.
Because Irving is incredibly smart and treat motivated, he is very easy to train. He is a quick learner who wants to please people. He thinks that it is fun to make games for him, even some impulse-control games like “leave-it”. He even does auto-sit during walks to get a reward.
Dog trainer Lou says Irving is an all-around good boy loves to play in groups and has endless energy! He received above average grades for his behavior in group training. Lou has seen some signs of guarding his food, but he is working to eliminate this behavior.
He is getting better with his training and is really learning the "look at me" command which helps him stay focused on walks and during other basic commands.
Irving is still working on leash reactivity and has some issues with encountering other dogs while on leash (but is good with other dogs with a proper introduction in playgroup).
Irving will need continued training and a dedicated owner who can help him with leash reactivity, walking manners, making sure he stays safe and secure, and managing his energy.
If you're looking for some puppy love in your life, Irving is ready to give some lucky person all of the love and play in the world.
