Meet Inga aka Babs

Meet Babs, She came to HART as a stray from rural KY. The shelter named her Inga but her foster mom felt that didn't fit and calls her Babs. Babs is a 4 to 5 year old #40 Bassett Hound mix. She came to HART with double cherry eye and a flea allergy which caused her to lose a lot of fur. She's had surgery for her eyes, her skin has cleared up, and all of her soft fur grew back beautifully.

Babs is now ready for her forever home. This is what her foster mom has to say about her: Babs has three favorite things : 1. Couch surfing 2. eating 3. playing and running in the yard. These are in no particular order as she seems to enjoy all three equally. Babs is smart & sweet and I'd consider her to be a medium energy level dog. She needs exercise but also loves to curl up and cuddle with us. Typical for the breed she can be quite vocal when excited.

She gets along well with our two resident dogs, although they ignore her, she hasn't been deterred from trying to get them to play.
Babs is house trained and is also completely content in a crate when we aren't home. She has earned the privilege of having free roam of the house with the other dogs as she doesn't get into anything that isn't hers.

She is food motivated and catches on quickly. She knows to look for her ball when it's play time and will happily fetch it and even brings it back.

Babs does need a home with a fenced yard because when taken for walks her energy ramps up and she bays at every person and dog that we come across. She may have been used for hunting in her past, or perhaps it's just the nature of her breed mix, we aren't sure. Her loud noises and chaotic energy will calm down once she understands that she doesn't need to react to everything that she discovers but this will take time and patience. For this reason a fenced yard is highly recommended.

If you feel Babs would be a good match for your family and you live within 100 miles of Cincinnati please contact is to arrange a meeting,
