Meet India!

India is a Labrador Retriever mix that is around 4 years old. She found her way to us as an emergency owner surrender due to being unable to care for her. During her first week at the shelter, she was very nervous and standoffish due to the sudden change of environment that she was experiencing. She needed time to warm up to her new caretakers at the shelter. India is looking for a patient adopter that will allow her to warm up on her time. She does not do well with men, and would thrive best in a woman-only home. After warming up to new women, India is a very loyal girl that bonds closely. She is affectionate and playful! India enjoys running in the play yard and chasing toys that are thrown for her. She walks well on a leash and enjoys exploring on walks. She is learning to stay down and to not jump up when she is excited. India "sits" very politely for snacks, and she is very treat motivated. She would do best with children ages 13 and over due to being nervous. India does well with other dogs and has met more than one dog while with us at the shelter! Canine siblings would depend upon a meet and greet.
