Meet Hunter

Hi, my name is Hunter! Here is what would work best for me in my new home:

-Personality: Active, high energy, intelligent, friendly
-Can Live with Kids: No, I will need an adult-only home
-Can Live with Cats: Unknown history, but likely not a good idea - no cats
-Can Live with Dogs: No. This may change pending further testing, but at this time he needs to be the only dog in the home. He is not a "dog park dog".
-Can do Apartment Living: No, I am a large high energy dog. I would do best in a home with a fenced yard.
-Potty Trained: Appears so!
-Bite History: Yes, ask staff for more details
-Positive Reward Based Obedience Classes Required: Yes, at least one private lesson AND a red dog consult with a trainer
-Energy Level: High (I'm a working dog!)
-Needs Medical Procedure Before Going Home: Yes, a neuter
-Additional Information:
Hunter is a big smart boy looking for a dog-experienced adopter who will take him on lots of adventures! His perfect match is an active person who enjoys getting outside as much as possible (ie. running, hiking, biking, etc.). Hunter is a German Shepherd mix, meaning he is a WORKING DOG. Potential adopters should be experienced with working breeds and able to demonstrate basic knowledge regarding their needs. Working dogs were bred to - you guessed it! - WORK (ie. herd and guard livestock). They're energetic and highly intelligent and if they do not have appropriate outlets for their energy, they will get bored. Hunter is a sweet boy who knows some basic commands like "sit" and "shake", but is eager to learn more! He loves to play fetch and will even sit after he brings the ball back. This big guy, like any rescue dog, would benefit greatly from stability, a routine, and consistent positive reinforcement training. Luckily he is treat-motivated, which will make training a whole lot easier. If you'd like to meet Hunter, the first step is filling out an adoption application. Applications will be reviewed to ensure it's a good match before scheduling an introduction.
