Meet Hunter

(The following dog is not with our rescue - this is a courtesy listing for his owner, Brandon - please contact Brandon Email: brandong512@gmail.com)

1. Age and weight
Hunter is 10 Years old and 6 months
2. Spayed/Neutered or not
Neutered
3. Vaccination status (rabies, DHLPP etc)
Up to date
4. Being wormed/flea/tick treated monthly?
Currently on Trifexis, monthly
5. Any medical issues (when did he/she last have a vet check up?)
Last vet check-up a month ago. Occasionally gets ear infections after baths (water got in his ear). We usually get prescribed ear drops and administer for a short period of time. Other than that healthy dog.
6. How does he/she behave around men/women/children/strangers/people on the street/other animals
When he is not familiar with the person he is very shy and reserved. There needs to be some kind of warming up period with a person that will allow him to get accustomed and use to the person. Generally he does better with new women than men, but he still needs a slow introduction to the new person. I’m not sure how he does with children, because we’ve never put him in an environment with kids. On the street, people cannot randomly pet him, because when he is unaware of a person around him, especially if it's a stranger, he can become startled, and possibly bite the person. He does pretty well with other dogs when slowly introduced in a controlled environment, but when startled he may bite.
7. Normal daily routine (food/exercise)
Food twice a day morning and night Daily walk 20-30 minutes.
8. Indoor or outdoor dog? (or both)
Both
9. Level of training (what commands does he/she know/how does he/she walk on leash/reaction to seeing other dogs when on leash)
Commands: Sit, paw, out, no, off.
Usually towards the beginning of the walk he tugs and pulls on the leash a lot because he likes to smell everything around him. Afterwards he tends to relax, it also gets easier if using a dog non-invasive collar that tightens a little when he pulls. Sometimes he gets riled up and excited when he sees a dog and pulls (usually when another dog barks and starts acting sporadically) other than that he does pretty well just starts marking trees more often for a few seconds.
10. Any particular likes/dislikes (how is he/she about being handled/petted – any sensitive areas, like ears, feet etc.)
When pet he is sensitive on legs (especially both back legs), paws, and tail.
11. How does he/she react to riding in the car/going to the vet/can he/she be lifted
He does pretty well in the car. At the vet, however, he can get aggressive and so we give him sedatives a couple hours beforehand. At the vet they use a muzzle and everything usually goes well. He does not like to be lifted and could cause him to bite, unless he is sedated.
12. Has he/she ever bitten any other animals/people? If so, what was the severity and was medical action needed?
He has bitten one dog before, it was not severe, and there was little to no bleeding on the smaller dog. He has bitten people a few times before, the severity has varied. Sometimes his bites do not puncture the skin. The worst bite mark was when a construction worker got close to him while he was on a leash tied up to a rail, and he lashed out and bit the worker's leg. The bite mark broke the skin, and there was bleeding, the worker needed some stitches.
13. Any separation anxiety issues or other behavioural issues?
He has some kind of separation anxiety. When left out for too long he gets anxious. Behavior issues would include not reacting well to strangers, and not being socialized as well.
14. Where did you obtain the dog from and why are you attempting to rehome the dog now? How long have you owned the dog?
Obtained dog from a jindo breeder in Texas. We are rehoming because I primarily took care of him, but since I am moving out and he recently bit someone, my parents would no longer like to take care of him.
15. Have you contacted any other rescues for assistance?
No
16. What are the best methods of contact for people interested in either fostering or adopting your dog?
