WE ARE NOT A SHELTER. WE ARE A NO-KILL 501-C-3 NON-PROFIT RESCUE: To see an animal, you must fill out an application first and then once approved, we can set up for you to meet the animal you are interested in.

Hudson was a stray in Fayette county and he went unclaimed. When his time was up, Waverly Pet Rescue took him in. He is living in a foster home. He is up to date on shots, tested heartworm negative, and neutered.

Hudson is about 6 years old as of December 2018. He is a friendly dog and loves attention. Hudson is also well-behaved and looking to please you. He seems to already be house-trained. Just might need a little more training in a new home. He does well with other dogs. He does not like cats at all so needs a home with no cats.

He is around 55 lbs and very good in house and in crate. He likes other dogs but not by his food so would have to be fed separately. So no children in the home would probably be best.

10/18/19 UPDATE: Hudson went to a new foster home last week! Hudson is doing great. What an easy dog! He just fit right into our household like he's been here for years. When he first arrived he was curious about everywhere in our house, and it didn't take him long to get it all looked over. I would definitely say he is housebroken as we haven't had any accidents since he arrived. He loves everyone! He likes attention and will hang out around you, but he isn't needy. He enjoys being outside exploring. He needs a little work on the leash as he likes to pull, and he's pretty strong. He's not real excited about going into his kennel during the day or at night, but he does with a little encouragement. He sleeps fine all night. We have left him out of his kennel for several hours while we were gone, more then once, and he has been a perfect gentleman-no accidents and nothing tore up. He has no desire to chew on anything, not even bones or toys. He knows how to sit and how to shake. He doesn't bark much, only once in a while when a vehicle pulls in. His bark is quite unique. I don't even know how to describe it lol. He is getting along with our dog fine. They don't really interact much, but that might be more my dog's fault as she wasn't very friendly when they were first introduced. I don't think he has much interest in her now. He does show some aggression if she (my dog) approaches him while he is eating, but that is the only time. Otherwise he is a sweetheart. He does appear to be a little overweight so my plan is to see if I can get him to loose a few pounds to make him healthier. He really enjoys his big belly being rubbed. Like I said, he is just such an easy, loving dog that I think he would make a wonderful pet for someone.

11/7/19 UPDATE: Hudson weighs 74 lbs and they estimate that he is about 7 years old as of November 2019. He does well riding in the car. He never really liked sleeping in the kennel at night so we have started letting him sleep in our bed. He always waits for us to tell him to jump up on the bed. I think he would probably do okay with his own bed on the floor too. We have recently discovered that he likes rope toys. It's the only toy he has shown any interest in. We still have had absolutely no problems with accidents in the house or any destructive behavior. He is a sweetheart. Sometimes he rolls over on his back and wants to play. He will give little playful growls and because he is a little chubby, he reminds me of a little black bear rolling around growling. He is a joy to have around.

Will someone please adopt Hudson and give him a forever home? $125.00 adoption fee.

WE ARE A NO-KILL 501-C-3 NON-PROFIT RESCUE. All donations are tax deductible. We do not have a shelter. All pets live in foster homes. We only adopt to indoor homes. To see an animal, you must fill out an application first and then once approved, we can set up for you to meet the animal you are interested in. We do background checks on all applicants. If you have assault, domestic abuse, or drug charges please do not apply. If you have questions, please send an email to waverlypetrescue@mchsi.com

All animals see a vet for shots and normal exams. If they appear healthy and there are no obvious health concerns, then extensive testing is not done. This is normal procedure for pet rescues and shelters.
Waverly Pet Rescue puts a lot of money into medical care for each dog and cat we take in. $300 is the average cost for basic care. This does not include if the animal had an injury, required extra flea / ear mite treatments, or needed extra days at the vet office.
