Meet Howlie Mandel
This handsome young Beagle mix arrived at ACS on 8/08/18 from a rural county shelter where he had been turned in as a stray. We were told Howlie Mandel was about a year old at that time and, while he has the enthusiasm and energy of a young dog, he seems to be past the 'puppy sillies.' Howlie is a very happy and friendly dog but might act a little timid when you first meet him. Once you start loving on him, though, he's quick to love you right back! As you would expect from any dog with Beagle blood, Howlie loves to sniff and usually keeps his nose to the ground on walks. Beagles love to follow interesting scents (and let's face it...EVERY scent is interesting to a Beagle!) and most of them easily stray if off leash in an unconfined area. Howlie needs a home with a secure fenced back yard where he can safely 'hunt' to his heart's content. Although we do not know if Howlie is house- or crate-trained, he does his best to 'hold it' until his outside time. Still, his adopter should be prepared to work with Howlie on this as well as all the other important things Howlie may need to learn or brush up on. Dogs with Beagle blood are often very vocal and, while Howlie isn't overly vocal, he does let you know when he wants your attention, needs to go outside or is hungry. You may love the melodic bay of a Beagle's bark but your neighbors may not feel the same way so make sure you have a 'game plan' in place if this turned out to be a problem. To meet Howlie and find out if he'd be a good fit for you and your household, just stop by the shelter and ask to meet him. /// HOWLIE MANDEL IS SPONSORED THRU MARCH 2019 BY CLIFFORD AND TAMI DUCKWORTH.
