Meet Maxwell

Meet Maxwell, a 2-3 year old beagle boy around 29 lbs. Maxwell is neutered, UTD all vetcare, microchipped and ready for his new family.
His fosters say this…
Maxwell will make a wonderful companion or addition to almost any home. He is very sweet, loving and pretty easy going. Maxwell is good with the 4 other dogs I have, not reactive unless they are getting in his face too much as that overwhelms him. I imagine he would be good with older dog experienced children as he loves to be pet and loved. Maxwell loves to fetch the ball. He is smart so learning commands would be pretty easy.
Maxwell is a slow eater, actually chews his food. At first he wanted you to be in the same room while he was eating, but that need stopped after a few days.
Maxwell is very agile, can jump from the ground to on top of pretty much anything so continued training of both you and he to keep desirable objects out of reach a must.
Maxwell is a digger, has dug two holes that he can get out under at the chain link fence in just a few days. He basically just wanted to go into the garden area next door as his fosters were working there. He does not like to be kenneled yet, he will require a sturdy kennel and comfort training to adjust to the newness of crate training. Maxwell did figure out how to open the latch initially. He is better if we put him in the bedroom with us, but even then he only wants to sleep a few hours in the kennel initially.
Maxwell did initially leave his mark on the furniture a few times the first day, but has been much better since then, learning and adjusting to house scents. Foster does have a doggie door that he has 24 hour access to and utilizes. No doggy door will require a bit more training on alert to go. Possibly teaching to pee on command or bell training.
Maxwell has that hunter instinct and does have the beagle bark. He will try to get out to chase the squirrels, chipmunks, rabbits and even the dog next door when it went onto the back portion of our property.
Maxwell has that common beagle stubbornness in the weeks here with us so far but is learning by direction and repetition plus other dog example.
Maxwell is very sweet, but needs someone that has a VERY secure backyard, willing to keep up leash training and patience/direction a young beagle raised with little guidance needs. He must go to a home with another dog for company.
