Meet Howard
Hi, my name is Howard! Here is what would work best for me in my new home:
-Personality: Gentle, sweet, a bit nervous, still learning "how to dog"
-Can Live with Kids: Since Howard can be a little nervous at first we are recommending older kids who won't overwhelm him - ages 12+
-Can Live with Cats: Unknown history with cats so he would need a slow, supervised introduction process.
-Can Live with Dogs: Could potentially live with a SOCIAL/TOLERANT dog who would be okay with rude puppy behavior. No undersocialized or selective dogs - it would not be a good match!
-Can do Apartment Living: Yes, with plenty of exercise and mental stimulation. BE WARNED - I can be pretty vocal at times.
-Potty Trained: Needs some work!
-Bite History: None
-Positive Reward Based Obedience Classes Required: Yes, one private lesson required but more recommended. May benefit from a full basic obedience course, but may also be a little overwhelmed by it.
-Energy Level: Moderate
-Needs Medical Procedure Before Going Home: Yes, a neuter.
-Additional Information: Howard is a people loving boy who arrived at the shelter as a stray. He is now looking for his forever home! The shelter environment is quite overwhelming for the little guy, but he has adjusted well and is gaining confidence every day. Someone who can be with Howard for the majority of the day would be beneficial. Having a stable schedule and dependable person will be essential for Howard to get comfortable in his new home. He definitely needs some help with potty training and a few basic commands, but he is a very intelligent guy who learns quickly. As Howard is gaining confidence, we are seeing new sides of him. For instance, little Howard thinks of himself as a guard dog and will bark at things he perceives as a threat (aka everything) - this silly puppy is in need of someone who can be consistent with his training and help show him the world isn't so scary. Howard is still very much a puppy and will need to be socialized with people as well as other dogs - his new owner will need to be up to the task and be consistent with this socialization. This will ensure Howard grows up to be a well-adjusted adult dog. If Howard sounds like the dog for you, please fill out an application to be reviewed!
