Meet Houston

Houston is a 3-year-old neutered male black lab, weighs 54 pounds and is up to date on shots. Needs a rural or suburban single-family home with a physical fence. Good with dogs, best as the only male dog in the home. This dog is approved for homes with children ages 18 and up.

THANKS TO A GENEROUS DONOR, WHO THINKS EVERY LAB DESERVES A HOME OF THEIR OWN, THE ADOPTION FEE FOR THIS PUP IS $200.

Houston is a very sweet and affectionate dog with his primary caretakers. With guidance and slow introductions, he warms up to new people quickly. He has plenty of energy and enjoys playing outdoors; he’ll need a home where he’ll get the exercise he needs. Houston is selective about his dog friends, preferring laid-back females. Once he finds a buddy, he really likes to play. Houston would love nothing more than a home where he’s the only dog to get all the love, but homes with a laid-back playful female dog will be considered on a case-by-case basis. Due to punitive training methods used in the past, Houston needs time to develop trust with his caretakers, so his new family will go slow with him and let him learn to trust at his pace. Houston is a wonderfully sweet soul who deserves a home who will shower him with the love and affection this boy craves.

This dog is available for adoption from Lab Rescue LRCP. Lab Rescue LRCP rescues and places dogs in Maryland, Virginia, Washington DC, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, Delaware and North Carolina. Adopters must travel to Maryland, or Virginia with their family - human and canine - to meet the dog they want to adopt.

Lab Rescue LRCP has more than 60 dogs available for adoption from foster homes across Maryland and Virginia, and at monthly adoption events. The adoption event dates and locations are listed at www.lab-rescue.org.

If you are interested in adopting, please visit www.lab-rescue.org and complete an adoption application. After you submit an application, you will hear from an Adoption Coordinator who will guide you through the adoption process.

An adoption fee is charged to help cover the cost of veterinary care, and a reference check and home visit are required.
