Meet Houma BAS
Houma was rescued from the county animal control. She was caught chasing livestock.
With a guesstimated birthday in Feb. 2019, Houma weighs about 60 lb.
Houma is staying with a family while recuperating from her spay surgery. They report she's the perfect house guest, and never makes a mess. She enjoys car rides with her foster family.
Houma is excellent in temperament and behavior. She is gracious to all strangers and is laid back in the house when exercised appropriately. She walks well on leash without pulling. She hasn't gone through a shed cycle with us, but doesn't shed continuously as some dogs do.
Houma likes other polite dogs. She's happy and well-adjusted to changes in her routine and environment. She hasn't met the family's cat yet, so we are still unsure of her attitude toward felines.
This adoptable pup is being housed at our Bunch Anderson shelter, awaiting transport to an area in more need of adoptable dogs. If you're interested in this pup, please contact us immediately as their residency in our care isn't long-term.
**********
April 2020: We are not holding public adoption events until further notice. Qualified families are being invited to appointments to meet specific dogs. There are currently no opportunities to view multiple dogs and adoption events aren't being held at Tractor Supply in Lenoir.
**********
Whether dogs / puppies come in as strays or owner surrenders, we usually have to make our best guess as to birthdate and breed.
If adopted into a home with other animals, particularly cats, your new pet should be crated or secured when you're not available to supervise to insure a harmonious relationship.
A vet reference is required to confirm responsible pet ownership. Requirement is a minimum three year vet history documenting current / previous pets are spayed / neutered, kept up to date on core vaccinations, and on heartworm prevention. We suggest first time pet owners without a vet history look for an adult dog for companionship and to gain experience. Other rescues or your local government-run animal control agency may have different adoption requirements.
Adoption fee covers two vaccinations plus spay / neuter if using our local low-cost spay/neuter clinic (overnight stay required) and surgery occurs as agreed upon in the adoption contract. Convenience fee equal to refundable spay/neuter deposit may be required if, using our veterinarian or same-day surgery, service is scheduled through our organization. Additional fees for 3rd puppy vaccination, refundable spay/neuter deposit, etc. may apply.
We are an all-volunteer, foster-based rescue. We receive no funding from agencies. Available animals can be seen most Saturdays at Tractor Supply in Lenoir from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. We recommend interested parties contact us to pre-qualify for adoption so their new furry family can go home once paperwork is complete. Fees are required in cash. For more information on our organization, our website is www.petpartnersrescue.org.
