Hoss was surrendered to the shelter following several visits from animal control with his owner. Hoss is a special boy. He is deaf. Unfortunately, Hoss did not have the best start in life. His previous owner did not seek resources to help him or learn to train him appropriately so as Hoss grew and became more difficult to handle their solution was to chain him in the backyard. Hoss is very people driven and doesn't like to be by himself so this was spirit-breaking for him. For several months he was on the chain and as winter came his owner finally decided the best thing would be to let him find a more equipped home.

Hoss is still young, right at 18 months old. He is playful and bouncy and loves toys. Hoss is good with other dogs and loves to play hard. He has a great temperament. At this point in his life he is a big-untrained puppy so he is looking for a home that can give him ample time for excessive to get that energy out so that he can focus on learning a routine, training and becoming the great dog that we know he is. A home with deaf dog experience would be preferred because it does pose challenges but learning to speak in his terms can be a very rewarding and successful bonding experience for family and dog as you both learn together.
