Meet Hope
Meet Hope, a 20lb terrier mix with a heart full of potential and a past that’s hard to forget. Rescued from a high-kill shelter, Hope was a picture of pure terror, her small body trembling at every sound and movement. It was clear from the moment we brought her home that she had endured more than just the harsh conditions of the shelter—she had likely known the cruelty of an abusive hand.
Despite her traumatic past, Hope’s spirit remains unbroken. With each passing day, she is learning to trust again, and her progress has been nothing short of miraculous. Where there was once fear, there is now a tentative wag of her tail, a small but powerful sign of her desire to connect with the world around her.
Hope’s journey is far from over, and she needs someone special to help her continue to blossom. She longs for a forever home where patience and love are abundant, where she can learn that not all humans bring pain. There is nothing more rewarding than earning the trust of a dog who has known fear and hardship.

Foster Tales is based in Bakersfield, California, home to two of the state's highest-kill shelters. Kern County faces high poverty rates, exacerbating the animal overpopulation crisis and making it difficult to find local homes for the daunting amount of homeless animals in the area. By adopting from us, you enable us to continue rescuing dogs from dire situations. To-date, we’ve placed nearly 200 dogs into loving homes.
Our adoption process includes a counseling session with a certified trainer ensuring a smooth transition for you and your new best friend. ***We keep our pet listings current and respond to inquiries within 48 hours.***
We serve all of California with flexible transport options, including meeting halfway or arranging direct transport for an additional contribution to cover costs. We do consider out-of-state adopters as well.
