Hokksund is simply a big sweetheart. He’s very calm most of the time, but does become playful when he is around other dogs or when a spurt of energies give him the zoomies—he’ll run, hurdle the couch, toss his toy around—he can be very silly. He is sentimental and loves to snuggle up wherever his people are. We tend to move his bed around the house (even the kitchen floor) because he does not like to be away from you. He is very good around strangers—excited even—as well as other dogs, although we’ve not had much opportunity to have him truly play with other dogs. That said, our neighbors have a dog and they’ll often play at the fence. Hokksund is always in the play position and whining. Hokksund does great on stars and on hardwood floors. We think he would be happiest if he lived with another dog as he does get a bit of separation anxiety when his family leaves. Hokksund would also be best with older children. He can get a bit possessive of his bones/chew treats and we want to make sure his space is respected.

This dog is being fostered in the Cedar Rapids/Iowa City Area. We do not ship dogs. Adopters must be committed to meeting the dog in the area it is being fostered.

The adoption fee for HGA is $300.00. This fee pays for medical costs including spay/neuter surgery, shots, parasite treatments, teeth cleaning, microchip and microchip registration fee. Each dog also comes with a special sighthound collar and leash set and muzzle. There is a $30 non-refundable application fee.
