Hippo is our sweet mellow lady rescued from a puppy mill. She is approx. 16 lbs of love!
Hippo's favorite past time is snoozing on the Kunda bed. She loves pets and freeze dried treats. She has moments of play but mostly she just wants to hang with her person. She is in a home with other dogs and mostly does well. She has moments of resource guarding and receives bones and her meals in her crate. She is doing much better about this now that she is acclimated to the home and understands she doesn't need to protect and defend her special items.
Hippo walks well on a leash and is great in the car. She likes to ride on the console and watch where she is going. She does need help getting in and out of the car.
Hippo did have a mammary mass that was determined to be cancer. The mass has been removed and the cancer is gone. However, she may get another mass on a mammary gland in the future and should be monitored by the adopter and be seen by a vet if one develops.
Hippo is crate trained, however, she prefers to be free roam at night. If not, she wakes foster mom up at 3 a.m. As a precaution she wears a diaper at night but she has not had any accidents. She is the sweetest and most easily to love little lady!
Hippo's adoption fee is $315 to help us cover some of our expenses. She is spayed, current on vaccines, microchipped, received a dental, and on monthly flea and heart worm prevention. Visit leiashope.org for an application.
