Hinley Basenji & Jack Russell Terrier Mix Chatham, NJ

Hello! My name is Hinley! I am a super cute Basenji/maybe JRT mix! I am about 30 lbs. My story isn't so happy. I ended up in a GA shelter with two puppies who seemingly were my offspring. I was really shutdown there. I was shy and I wouldn't engage too much with anything. I stayed close to my puppies. However, I was very open to being picked up and given some support and attention. Albeit, I was unsure but I was still very open to it. My transition into my foster home wasn't easy but I have made great great strides. My foster mom did exactly what she was supposed to do. She let me have my space, she let me know that I was loved and she showed me she would show me nothing but gentle behavior (food and yummy treats helped!). I was never aggressive. I just wanted to hide and watch. After a few days, I started to come around, the other dogs helped me immensely and they still do! After about 6 weeks, I have really come out of my shell and I will continue to grow and trust. I go to her for pets, I am jumping on the couch (!!), I play with all the other dogs and I am doing great at my housebreaking. I even get into a little mischief sometimes! I am a wonderful size and looking for a home with another friendly dog (this is a necessity for me) and children over 12 or just adults (little ones might send me running to the hills).
