Meet Herman
We are a volunteer run rescue and donate our time to these dogs. IF you are not serious about moving forward in our adoption process, please do not apply. If someone other than yourself is part of the decision making process, please make sure you have spoken with them and they are on board. We really do not want to waste anyone's time if you are not serious about adopting this dog.
Herman, 9 months old (estimated DOB March 2024), neutered male, Hound/Boxer mix. currently weighs 32 pounds. Herman is in a foster home in SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS and can transport out of state once an approved adopter is lined up!
Meet this sweet, outgoing pup who’s ready to find his forever family!
His family was at the city shelter and eventually landed on the euthanasia list where they miraculously sat safe for a full day. Thanks to fosters stepping up, we were able to save the whole family!
Given Mom is a 30lb mixed breed and these puppies are so big already, we expect them to be medium to large (40-50+lbs) when full grown. Please do not apply to adopt him if you are not able to handle a dog this size.
Herman is dog, cat, and kid friendly, and loves to give kisses. He’s a playful and curious boy who’s still learning his puppy manners, so he’ll need a family dedicated to guiding him as he grows. Herman is potty trained and semi-crate trained and though he’s not the biggest fan of the kennel just yet, he’s working on it! He shares a home with other dogs and loves to play!
Like most puppies, Herman loves to explore the world with his mouth, so he’ll need a little help learning what’s okay to chew and what’s not. Providing plenty of toys and supervision will keep him happy and engaged as he continues to discover his surroundings. He’s also very vocal and loves to express himself, so be ready for a chatty companion!
Herman has the cutest little wiggle walk when he’s excited, and he’s always up for playtime or an adventure outside. Whether it’s running around in the yard or chasing after toys, this pup is full of energy. If you’re up and active, Herman will be right there with you, but when it’s time to relax, he’s happy to cuddle up and keep you company.
Herman will need a family committed to training, socialization, and all the dedication that comes with raising a puppy. His new family should be prepared to continue his potty training and provide plenty of daily exercise and mental stimulation. Herman is still learning his boundaries, so a home with dog-savvy kids who understand and respect dog behavior would be best. For younger children, we recommend parents who can supervise and help teach appropriate animal manners.
Herman is looking for a loving family who understands what goes into raising a puppy into adulthood. This can be prior experience or someone willing to seek support as needed, such as training or help from friends and family. Puppies bring so much joy, but they also require intentional and committed attention, including socializing with new people, other dogs, leash work, and basic obedience.
For puppies this age, someone needs to be home more than they are away, as crating for long periods is not conducive to their developmental needs. If you work outside of the home for more than 4 hours, please let us know who will be available to spend time with Herman while you are away. Applications without this information will not be considered.
Herman is excited to find a family who will love and guide him as he grows into the perfect companion!
***Listed BREED and AGE - We are taking our best guess & recommendations from our veterinarian on age, breed and size when fully grown. We rarely know a dog's exact age nor are we able to tell the true or full breed mix of dogs as our information is limited most of the time. ***
