Meet Hercules (Russian Pups)

Few people know about street dogs in Russia, especially rural Russia. These dogs come from a remote, freezing, desolate area of the world where hundreds die on the streets from literally freezing to death. The problem is overwhelming. The culture where they’re from does not support spaying/neutering/vaccinating their pets, and sadly dumping pregnant dogs and puppies is common practice. To control the street dog population (they are treated as pests) dogs are periodically shot, poisoned, or beaten to death. A fortunate few will end up in a kill shelter with a 24-hour time limit. To save money, many of these shelters do not use euthanize humanely. Instead, the dogs are cremated alive. The lucky dogs that avoid capture or extermination are forced to survive in extreme temperatures (depending on the area, temperatures may range between -10 and -50 from December till March). And although most puppies die very young from Parvo or dog attacks, enough survive long enough to breed, and so the cycle continues.

Hercules was rescued from the dire conditions described above, and yet at only 6 months old, he is still such a sweet baby. He is great with everyone he meets and loves to cuddle! He also loves to roll around in the snow. He is currently about 25lbs and will most likely be a medium sized dog when fully grown. Hercules has been raised in foster care since a tiny baby and is very well socialized with people, kids and dogs

The cost for SNARR to be able to help these dogs is very expensive because we have to cover veterinary care, broker fees, ground transport to the airport, health certificate fees, and the flight, all of which are currently increased due to the Covid pandemic. As a result, the adoption fees would normally be higher for these dogs to help us cover some of these added costs, but thanks to a very generous donation by Dr. Tomas Infernuso of the Animal Surgical Center, we were able t save Hercules without having to increase his adoption fee! If you know SNARR, you know we believe that saving a dog and providing them a second chance at a wonderful life is priceless, and we will do what we can to help them!

Hercules will be ready for adoption from SNARR's Adoption Center in Brewster, NY on 3/29/21! To apply to adopt Hercules, fill out an application at www.snarrnortheast.org/applications.

***IMPORTANT: This dog has not yet been altered. For any dog or puppy that is not able to be spayed/neutered prior to adoption, SNARR requires a $125 deposit in addition to your adoption fee, as well as a strictly-enforced signed Spay/Neuter Contract stating you will have this dog altered within 6 months of adoption. The $125 deposit will be returned once the contract has been fulfilled.***

FAQs -- PLEASE READ ALL BEFORE EMAILING
-------------------------------------------------------
**Please note that SNARR NE is a volunteer-based organization. While our volunteers will try to respond to you as quickly as possible, it is helpful if you review the following information about our adoption process before emailing:**

- LISTED BREED(S) & AGE: We are taking our best guess on age, breed, and size when fully grown, based on the puppy's/dog's physical appearance and what we might have learned about one or both parents depending on the situation. *NOTE* We rarely know a dog's exact age, nor are we able to tell the true or full breed mix of dogs as our information is limited most of the time. Because we often do not have access to medical records at the time that we are posting dogs to Petfinder, there are sometimes discrepancies between what is posted on Petfinder and what might be listed on a dog's medical records.

- SNARR'S ADOPTION PROCESS: The first step in adopting or meeting a SNARR dog/puppy is to fill out an application at www.snarrnortheast.org/applications. Once we receive your application, one of our adoption application processors will contact you, review our adoption process with you, and answer any additional questions you may have. **We do not go on a first-come-first-serve basis for adoptions, but on best fit for a family and most importantly the puppy or dog.**

- MEETING ADOPTABLE DOGS: Meet and greets will not be scheduled until after your adoption application has been fully processed by one of our adoption processors.

- APPLYING ONLINE: If you fill out an online application, please do so from a computer (not a mobile device), make sure you answer ALL the questions in as much detail as possible, and that you receive a confirmation email. If you do not receive a confirmation email, that means we did NOT receive your application.
