Meet Herbie
Hi! My name is Herbie! I'm around 10 months old and some people think I may weigh around 40-45 lbs when I'm full grown.
I came from a bad situation where I was not properly cared for. I was left in a kennel where I developed sores on my body and wasn't given the nutrients I needed as a growing puppy. I was surrendered to a clinic who contact Mutt Misfits. Mutt Misfits saved my life and that night I was taken home and given a warm bed and food. I had to have extensive wound care and procedures to close my wounds. I was on a taper diet, where my foster family slowly added more and more food to my meals to not overwhelm my body. I had gone without much food for a long time. I am feeling a lot better and my foster mom says I have done great gaining weight but I've still got some more to go.
In my foster home I have been around dogs, big and small. I like them all! There are also cats there and I think they make good friends. They tell me they like me too. I am kennel trained and I think I have done a great job learning house training. I go and sit at the door to let my foster family know I need to go potty.
I like people but I am a little nervous around women. Once I know they are okay, we can be good friends. My foster mom says once I warm up I'm the bestest boy!
Do you have a couch? I really like those. I like when I get to snuggle up with you and watch your favorite show. Oh yeah, I have also met some older kids. They seemed to understand I can be a little nervous around new people and I appreciated that. I think I would be okay being around other older kids that were the same way.
I would love to find a person or family that knows I'll need time and patience to settle in and adjust and that I'm still young and learning.
