Henry's Story
Henry is an adorable and handsome Grey and white Shih Tzu boy who was found wandering on the streets of Phoenix and had been attacked by another dog or possibly a coyote. His severe matting may have saved his life as he had 3-4 fairly serious puncture wounds but they could have been so much worse if the severe mats had not prevented teeth from penetrating his coat in most areas. Henry avoids confrontation with other dogs when he can and wants to lead a peaceful life. He loves toys and play and seems to get along with all people. He is untested with small children. He has a lovely (mellow) Shih Tzu temperament that we all know and love. His dew claws have been removed which makes me think he may have originated from a pet store but he was not microchipped. Wherever he came from he's a true gem. He sleeps on a soft office chair next to my bed at night. He may prefer to sleep on the bed, but my dogs do not want to allow him to and he does not want to push it. He will make a lovely pet for almost any family. He's approximately four years old and weighs about 14 pounds.

Like many of our rescue dogs, we are not sure how well housetrained Henry is. But with gentle persuasion, some consistency, structure and praise he should be easy to train.
Henry is a coated dog (hair grows continuously) and will need professional grooming every 6-8 weeks.

Henry's adoption fee is $400

This fee includes at least one health exam at our veterinarian while in our care, altering, all vaccinations including rabies (as permitted by age), a pre-adoption professional grooming and a microchip with lifetime membership that never will cost you a fee. All dogs also leave with a new collar and or harness and leash as well as a gift bag which includes among other things, a starter bag of the quality kibble that is being fed at the rescue. Adoption fees also allow us the ability to put funds towards the next homeless or unwanted dog in need of rescue! If you would like to be considered to for this adoption or any of our amazing rescues, please fill out the application with the help of this link. https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/AZST/Dog.

We review each application carefully. Please understand that sometimes we get numerous applications for specific dogs and as a volunteer-based rescue, we do not always have the time to respond to each one. We do our best to choose the most suitable home for each dog based on their specific personality and needs. Please note you MAY NOT be contacted for up to 10 days to schedule a meet and greet if your family is the most suitable for this rescue dog. Regrettably, we do not have the manpower currently to contact all applicants. We keep ALL applications in our database so please feel free to contact us when you see another dog of interest. We appreciate all applicants and do our best to pair every dog and family for a successful and happy life.
