Helios is a calmer dog who loves to be pet. He’s perfectly content laying next to you on the couch. This boy is a huge lovebug and loves everyone he meets!

"Helios is a Velcro dog. He does drool a little bit, especially when he sees food. He enjoys treats of all brands, and he is very good with all the animals in our house. He just seems indifferent. He’ll get the occasional spurt of playfulness but it lasts a few minutes and he’s calm again. If he wants your attention he will Pyr paw at you. He loves his people and follows us around everywhere. He’s such a good boy and is going to make a family very happy."

I truly believe that some things are just meant to be. This wasn't the first time that Helios popped up on our radar. We first came across him when we took in his siblings almost 2 years ago. However, by the time we got them his owner had already given him and another puppy (Achilles) away before we could welcome them to our family. You can imagine our surprise when these two boys ended up in the shelter because they kept wandering away from home(the yard was unfenced). When we heard where they originally came from, we knew they would be joining our fluffy butt family. It was a little later than their siblings, but these boys were meant to be part of our family! ?

Helios is a 2.5-year-old male Great Pyrenees/Golden Retriever mix. He currently weighs 73lbs, he was on the thin side though. He will probably top out somewhere in the 90-100lb range.

? Helios is great in the car and can jump in and out by himself. He has been on walks and absolutely loves them. His fosters recently took him to Starbucks, and was fine with one person but got a little nervous around a bunch of people. He looked to his fosters for reassurance. He is calm meeting new people, and seems cautious initially but warms up after a little while.

? Helios has good house manners and can be trusted with free-roam of the house. Helios is potty and kennel trained. When his fosters are gone he has free-roam of the house and likes sleeping in bed with his fosters at night. Helios has not shown to be a big chewer or barker in his foster home.

?Helios has not shown much interest in toys or playing fetch. He would much rather get pets and lovings. We are unsure if he is a water dog.
-Helios has not shown to have any issues with food aggression or resource guarding in his foster home.

?We are unsure how Helios would do in an apartment. He is a big guy, but not super active. He can be chill, but with so much dog he probably does need a big fenced-in yard to romp around in.

?Helios is being fostered around other dogs and cats. He does well with the other dogs. He is a bit indifferent to the other dogs right now. However, once he feels comfortable we think he will play with them here and there. He pays no mind to his fosters cats.

?? Adopting Helios??

Helios has the personality of a superstar! He would fit in best with a calmer family that enjoys some walks. One that has a mildly playful dog, but isn't always on him to play. He would also do fine as an only dog if his new family was home most of the day.

Helios is being fostered in Bixby, OK. His new family needs to be able to pick him up(even if they are out of state). No commercial transports and no shipping. Just a fun road trip with him and his new family! ?

His adoption fee is $225. That includes DHLPP, Rabies, and Bordatella shots. He will be micro-chipped, heart-worm tested, have a fecal done, be de-wormed, be spayed/neutered, and will be current on heart-worm and flea/tick prevention.
