Meet Heidi
Heidi, Heidi, Heidi. This girl has been through the ringer. She came to us with an obvious history of neglect. Her body sure tells a story! She has a scar around her neck from being tightly chained, has been overbred, a previously broken tail, and an eye that was injured and then neglected for who knows how long. We have gotten Heidi the vet care she needs (and lovings!) and she is now looking for a family that will treat her like a princess and cherish her for the first time in her life. Heidi is a happy girl who is always wagging her tail. She loves to ride in the car and her preferred seat is with her paws on the console looking at the world. Heidi is active and would love a fenced in backyard where she can run and play to her heart's content. She has gotten along well with other dogs, but we would prefer that she meet any future fur siblings at the shelter before going home :)
Heidi is heartworm positive, but that doesn't mean her heart has any less love to give. Heartworms are pretty common in strays like Heidi. Foothills Humane Society is able to provide a slow-kill treatment to Heidi's adopters at no cost. However, it is recommended that adopters consult their vet for alternative treatment options. Adopters are more than welcome to pursue the fast-kill option at their expense with their vet.
