Heathrow's Story

Meet Heathrow – a 7-month-old, 32-lb black Bull Terrier mix with a big personality and an even bigger heart. Rescued from the shelter and now fully recovered from a tibia injury, he’s thriving in his foster home with a yard and playful pup friends.

Heathrow is an exuberant, energetic puppy who loves romping with dogs of all sizes. While very excited to meet other dogs, he is submissive and often follows their lead, performing a perfect play bow and respecting cues. Silly, clumsy, bouncy, and full of joy, he’s always ready for an adventure. He’s also a total lovebug—expect big wet kisses and the occasional playful nibble on your fingers. He is a lapdog in the body of a medium size pup and is very content to nap away the hours snuggled up against you on the couch. The closer he can be to his humans the better, but he sleeps through the night in his crate, greeting you with excited tail wags in the morning.

This smart boy is potty trained, crate trained, and rides calmly in the car. He is very smart and attentive, food-motivated and responds well to training. He genuinely wants to make his humans happy and will do wonderfully in obedience classes. He does well on leash, and is building his confidence walking around in the world full of loud sounds and cars.

Heathrow would thrive in an active, committed home, and would make a wonderful second dog. We think he would do great with dog-savvy kids who can handle an enthusiastic jumper. He can be excited to meet new people, but settles down very quickly, especially for a puppy his age. He gets his zoomies out in the yard before settling in the sun for a nap, and while he hasn’t quite figured out fetch, he definitely likes his toys and has mastered the art of entertaining himself with a chew toy or Nylabone.

He hasn’t lived with cats, so his compatibility is unknown.

He’ll need a family ready to invest time, patience, and positive reinforcement—providing the mental stimulation, physical exercise, socialization, and structured training that will help him grow into the amazing dog he’s meant to be.

Underdog Animal Rescue's Adoption Policy
Thank you for reading about our awesome dogs. All dogs came to us from different situations and we often do not know much about their past, but they are rescue dogs who deserve a second chance and need patience on their journey. All of our dogs our are in foster homes all across the bay area. The first step of the process is you must submit an application in order to set up a meet and great or talk with the foster family. Once application is submitted the foster parents will contact you to chat more about the dog and make sure they're a good fit and can answer any further question. The application answers most of all of our questions and can best match you. If you do not get the dog you apply for we can use your same application for 90 days towards another dog in our care and simply forward your app to that foster parent. **Reminder we are all volunteers working hard to save these dogs, some dogs may receive 20+ application to all be reviewed. We do our best to respond to all apps as we can. Please be patient and feel free to send us a follow up email if needed. http://form.jotform.com/underdogca/dog-adoption-application All dogs will be fully vetted (Spay/ Neutered, Micro chipped, DHPP and Rabies Vaccinated) and other possible vet care prior to adoption. The adoption fees vary by animal and are considered a non refundable donation Visit us at www.underdogca.com or follow us on IG@underdoganimalrescueca https://www.facebook.com/underdogCA A little more about us: Underdog Animal Rescue is a foster based rescue serving the Bay Area of Northern California. Since our start in 2014, we have built an outstanding team and have grown into a strong network of volunteers dedicated to saving the Underdogs in our shelters and community. We have dedicated our efforts to giving a second chance to the dogs that are most in need (medically or behaviorally) and the dogs that have been overlooked for too long. As a foster based rescue, Underdog places dogs in temporary foster homes where they can decompress and get the love and affection that they need. Dogs are also vaccinated, spayed/neutered and receive any other medical treatment needed before finding their forever home. Rescue is undoubtedly hard and trying work but it is entirely worth it to see the life of a dog saved. As a rescue, we believe it is our duty to save the dogs that really need our help; the dogs that need a little TLC, a little medical care, or just someone to believe in them again. This is why we save the dogs that are on their last days at the shelter or haven't even been given a chance to be adopted by the public. As much as we love those sweet puppy eyes, we think more of saving their mommy’s and daddy’s that have been shoved to the back of the shelter awaiting their fate. Thank you for seeing what we do and loving us for it. It’s only because of our outstanding community, foster families and volunteers that we are able to continue our efforts.
