Meet Hazel
My name is Hazel!
You might recognize me from when I created quite a stir when I was seen on multiple lost and found sites with my dislocated hip, bad haircut and underweight, scrawny body. I got hooked up with these Rescue One folks and now I’ve had my hip fixed (FHO surgery), my haircut evened out, and I’ve gained 5 1/2 pounds!
I am now 36 pounds, about 10 months old and when my hair grows out, you’ll see that I am a scruffy aussie/terrier mix.
I am housebroken and pretty darn good in the crate if I say so myself. I might be a little noisy when I first go in there because I really don’t want you to leave me but I’ll quiet down in a few minutes. For this reason, I should probably not live in an apartment. Wouldn’t want those neighbors complaining to the landlord! I also don’t think I would do great on a big rig. I need another dog to run and play with in a fenced back yard.
I must must must have another playful dog in my forever home. I am so playful that the crotchety old dogs in my foster home are ready for me to leave. I want to play, they want to sleep. Not sure why that’s fun but it is what it is.
I’m about eye level with most toddlers. Because of this, I really like to put my face in their face and be all in their business. For some reason they just do not like this so I probably need to live with older kids (over 12 years old). I am super interested in playing with cats. I think if one of them gave me a good slap, I would probably back off but if they don’t do that, I will probably be super nosy and drive them crazy. So maybe no cats or dog savvy cats only in my forever home.
It’s important that you know that I am still limping on my leg post-surgery. I’m putting it down a little more every day. I should be good as new in no time if you could be patient with me and let me heal with you.
I’m a loving and affectionate girl with lots of playfulness and curiosity!
My adoption fee is $150 and includes my spay/neuter, vaccinations, wellness exam, heartworm test, and microchip! If you're interested in meeting/adopting me, please visit www.rescueonespringfield.com/our-adoption-process/adoption-application/ and fill out the form! We do adopt out of state with vet references and video home check. *Adopter is responsible for coming to get the dog and returning the dog if the adoption does not work out*
