Hazel is GORGEOUS! We don't know if we've met a more stunningly beautiful dog in our days. Not to mention she has the softest fur ever! There is a lot to love about this girl.
Hazel loves her people hard! Once she knows you, you are her best friend and she will want nothing more than to smother you in kisses and climb in your lap. If you're looking for a dog who will always be happy to see you, Hazel will make your day every day. She will snuggle up next to you for a nap. Her foster dad works from home and she loves to lay on her dog bed next to him all day, but she is crate trained and would do just fine with someone who has to leave for work every day. Hazel is 100% potty trained too and has never had any accidents in the house!
She knows all her basic commands (sit, down, stay, recall, place command for settling in the house) walks nicely on a leash, auto sits when you stop. Hazel is trained to run on the treadmill on days she can’t get out for enough exercise with her people, which is nice for bad weather days! She loves to play with other dogs and of course we would organize a meet and greet with another dog if there were to be one in her adoptive home, but she would also do totally fine as the only dog in a home too!
Hazel has experience with a professional trainer. To be honest, she was struggling with leash reactivity on walks. We are happy to report that she thrived with the trainer and has come a long way, but her ideal adopters would be committed to maintaining this training with her. She is not a good fit for first time dog owners, or someone looking for a super easy dog. She needs a strong leader and someone confident to work her through her reactivity.
At the trainers, she got to run along side a four wheeler and next to a bike! Hazel is very food motivated and would excel, if someone wanted to do an obedience sport like rally or agility with her as she is so smart! Hazel is best suited with a dog savvy person or family, with older kids if any at all.
This girl has been with Rescued Rascals for over a year. We know her forever home is out there, and we really hope that it is you!
