Hazel came to rescue before being euthanized by her owners because she was diabetic and going blind. She is only 8 years old and even though she was not a dachshund, we could not let her die for that reason. She is a super good girl. She is potty trained, and kennel trained and does very well walking on harness and leash too. She most likely can see slight shadows and acclimates easily to her surroundings. She does tend to be a bit bossy around her food bowl, most likely because she can't see if they are eating her food or not, other than that she is a doll. She does receive daily insulin injections at the same time she gets her food, which are super easy to give. She would do best in a quiet home with no children and is ready for that perfect home to settle in for her retirement years. If you think she might be a good fit for your home, let us know.

All of our dogs are current on vaccinations which include Rabies and Distemper/Parvo, they are spayed and or neutered, have been fecal tested and heartworm tested, and had a dental cleaning if necessary. They are all on heartworm and flea/tick preventative as needed in rescue. They all are adopted out with a microchip that is registered in the adopter's name and is good for a lifetime with no additional fees.

The adoption process is an application, a vet reference, a home inspection, and a lifetime contract. The requested adoption donation for all of our dogs is $300.

We do not REQUIRE a fenced in yard (some dogs do not require a fence, as long as they can walk well on harness and leash. This is decided by what is best for each dog individually.)

We are willing to adopt out-of-state applicants, but you must travel to the foster home location of your dog which is generally in Omaha or within a 90-minute drive from the Omaha area to meet and travel home with your dog. We do not transport or ship dogs.
