Meet Harvest Gold

"Harvest Gold is a one-year-old, 75-pound Catahoula Pyrenees mix. He may have some Aussie, Collie, or Retriever as well. Harvest Gold has a gorgeous fluffy brown coat with light brown and gold spots and highlights, a plumy fluffy gold tail, and beautiful gold eyes. He is one of the sweetest and most sensitive dogs we’ve fostered. He LOVES getting pets and attention from his foster humans, and he will lean on us and give us his paw to try and keep the pets coming his way! He is working hard to gain weight. He was pretty skinny when he became a Pyr Paws dog. Harvest Gold knows Sit and is working on Shake. He walks great on a leash- he doesn’t pull. His favorite hobbies are getting attention, cuddles, and loves from his foster humans, playing with the other dogs in his foster home (his favorite games are Chase, Wrestle, and Squirrel Patrol), and going on car rides and on walks with his foster humans. He will give hugs, and is a sensitive, soulful young guy. If we had to describe him in one word it would be a Gentleman or a Lover. Harvest Gold is a treasure! He has been a joy to foster!"
_______________________________________________________________
Harvest Gold came to us after he wound up in the shelter unclaimed and unwanted. He was skin and bones, but when a shelter volunteer sent us his photo...we all fell in love with him. He has the most soulful eyes and the sweetest face around. It wasn't too long after that we had a foster family step up for this handsome fella, and shortly after we welcomed Harvest Gold to our fluffy butt family!
Harvest is one of those dogs that you never want to stop looking at. His markings are so unique and so distinctive, and every time you look at him you seem to find more color mixed in him. His personality only adds to his appeal. Harvest loves other dogs and is playful with them. Harvest craves their companionship and the kind of play that only another dog can give him. Harvest Gold will definitely need another dog in his new home to play with, but also for companionship. Harvest Gold is not currently being fostered around cats so we are unsure how he would do with them. Harvest Gold is a lover and loves everyone he meets. He would probably adore children but given his young age, size, and playfulness the kiddos do need to be older as he would probably be a bit too much for toddlers.
Harvest loves car rides! He jumps right in on his own and will either sit up and look out the window or try to stick his head up front to get pets. He has been to the vet, and on walks in his foster's neighborhood. He is up for any and all adventures. Harvest Gold loves to spend time with his humans. He will do well-running errands and would be a great dog to bring along for outdoor dining. Harvest loves walks! He is working on getting used to a leash-he does not pull, but tends to circle around from side to side and tangle his human up in his leash. He is working on staying on one side of his human. Harvest enjoys walks with his foster humans. We think he'll do well on leashed hikes. Harvest may bark at strangers. Once he realizes they won't hurt him, he will try to get ALL the pets from them. Harvest Gold does jump up on people when he gets really excited. We are working to redirect him to a sit when he wants attention/ gets excited. Harvest is a little nervous at first around unfamiliar dogs, but once he knows they won't hurt him, he is all PLAY! His favorite games are tug, chase, and Squirrel Patrol! Harvest is a young dog who is very smart. He would love a family who will take him on daily walks, and on trips to run errands. Given his personality, he isn't the kind of dog that we would call a homebody. He definitely loves to be out and about and involved in his family's activities.
Speaking of activities, Harvest Gold will chase a ball or toy, but may or may not bring it back to you. He likes to keep things interesting ? Harvest enjoys playing with toys- especially when he can get the other dogs to play tug with him. Harvest has not had any experiences around water at this time. He will go outside and potty when it is raining, so we think he may be ambivalent about water. Harvest's energy level will match that of his home. He would prefer a family who can give him a daily walk. He is a SMART dog and appreciates the mental stimulation a walk provides. Harvest Gold is a tall guy and would do best in a house with a yard where he can stretch his legs versus an apartment.
Harvest Gold is potty trained. Harvest Gold has not been kenneled. He can be trusted with free roam of the house. Harvest has not shown destructive chewing in his foster home but his foster home is already puppy-proofed. Harvest Gold has not been a big barker in his foster home. He will "talk" to us (kind of a series of very quiet, soft whines) when he wants pets/ attention or treats! Harvest Gold stays either in our spare bedroom or our laundry room/ kitchen when no one is home. Harvest sleeps in either our laundry room or our spare bedroom when no one is home. He'd prefer to sleep with us in our bedroom, but our two personal dogs are territorial about the bedroom.
Harvest Gold's ideal home would have either another dog for him to play with or a family who is home most of the day. He is a very intelligent and sensitive dog. He would get lonely if he was by himself most of the day. Harvest has not been fostered around kids, but we think he would do well with older, dog-savvy kids- he will be in the 80-pound range and is pretty tall.
Do you feel that Harvest is a good fit for your family? If so, be sure to apply for him at
https://www.pyrpawsandfluffytailsrescue.com/adoption-app
Once this app comes in, it will be sent to his foster family. This is to help ensure that it is not only a good fit for you but Harvest Gold as well.
Harvest Gold is being fostered in Tulsa, OK. If you have fallen in love with him and are out of state, how about a road trip? We don't send our fluffy butts on commercial transports. So, if you want one of our amazing fluffy butts, it is time to plan a trip to good ole Oklahoma ?
His adoption fee is $250.00.
That will include his DHLPP, Rabies, and Bordetella. She will be micro-chipped, have a fecal done, be de-wormed, be spayed/neutered, and will be current on heartworm and flea/tick prevention.
