Meet Harris

Harris is a dog that just speaks to you! I mean, how can you look at him and not fall in love?!

Harris is a handsome and big boy! He enjoys being part of the family, but also isn't a needy dog. He loves to play with the other dogs, play with his toys, and loves being part of the pack! Harris is on the calmer side, and would make a wonderful addition to any family looking for a lower maintenance dog to join the family!
-You can apply to adopt Harris using the link below. However, we highly recommend reading his ENTIRE bio to find out more info about him and see if his personality would be a good fit with your family first.

Below is what Harris's foster family has to say about him.

"Harris was recently returned to us. His adopted name is Louie and that is what we call him. The rescue just uses Harris to keep the records straight. Harris is a big guy. He weighs around 118lbs and is definitely a stout boy. He is a pretty easy foster. He is completely potty trained and can be trusted with free-roam of the house. He really loves playing with the other dogs, although he can be a bit too persistent with them at times. His former home didn't have any other dogs, so he didn't quite learn proper doggie language. If he wants to play, he doesn't want to take no for an answer until the other dog finally tells him to. He is learning, though but his new family should have a playful dog. He would definitely drive a senior dog or non-playful dog crazy. Harris is pretty independent. He enjoys attention when he wants it, and other times he walks away when you pet him. He reminds me of a cat, in that regard. Other times, he will come up on the couch and lay his head in your lap and enjoy the pets he gets. He is still young, so needs a lot of toys. If you don't watch him, he may start chewing on his dog bed. Typical young dog behavior, but for the most part, he sticks to his toys. Harris may not be the most affectionate dog, but he loves being with his family. He is always somewhere nearby. I think this boy would be perfect for someone that is looking to welcome another dog to the family but doesn't necessarily want another velcro dog. He would make an amazing playmate for your other dog(s). "

Harris originally came to us when he was about 6 weeks old. He was an owner surrender, along with his two siblings Patrick&Neil. After about a year, he came back to us. His adopters tried hard to make it work, but Harris really just craves the companionship of other dogs. They surrendered him back to us, so we could find him a better fit.

Harris is a 12-month-old male Great Pyrenees mix. He currently weighs about 118lbs.

??To Harris's Future Family??
-----------------------------------------

? Harris rides well in the car. Harris walks well on the leash unless he doesn't want to. This boy is strong, so if he doesn't want to go somewhere...no amount of pulling will make him. We believe he would like going out and about with his family, but a harness and another dog would probably be needed to help make the walks go a bit smoother ? Harris is nervous when meeting new people. He takes his ques from the other dogs. If they are excited to see someone, he warms up pretty quickly. Harris has good manners around people and doesn't jump on them.

? Harris is given free-roam of the house when his foster family is away. He also has free-roam at night and does well. Since he is young, the house should be puppy-proofed. He will also need a playmate and lots of toys. Harris is potty trained. His foster does not kennel, so he has no experience being in one.

?Harris LOVES toys. Especially the bones and harder toys that give him a good outlet to chew on. Then again, he has a blast pulling the stuffing out of all the soft toys! He really just loves all toys. We are unsure if Harris likes playing fetch or in the water.
-Harris didn't grow up with other dogs in his home. He is used to being the only child, and because of that, he can be protective over his food at times. We recommend supervised feeding time, or feeding him separately when you can't watch.

?Harris is a big dog. While we believe he would enjoy some outings with his family, he probably wouldn't enjoy being in an apartment. That would probably be a little too much stimulation for him. He would do best with a family that has a large yard and isn't constantly going places with their dogs.

?Harris is being fostered around other dogs and cats. He does well with the other dogs. He really loves to play with the other dogs. He hasn't shown interest in his fosters cats.

?? Adopting Harris ??

Harris would love to be adopted to a multi-dog family. He definitely needs at least one playful dog in his new home. Harris would also do best with a family that is a mix between calm and active. He would love to go out sometimes, but can also be a homebody. He tends to match the energy of his family. Harris would do great with someone who doesn't mind that he is on the more independent side. Don't get me wrong, he has his cuddly moods but other times he would rather play with the other dogs or just be in the same vicinity as you with a toy.

Harris is being fostered in Kiowa, OK. His new family needs to be able to pick him up(even if they are out of state). No commercial transports and no shipping. Just a fun road trip with him and his new family! ?

His adoption fee is $225. That includes DHLPP, Rabies, and Bordatella shots. He will be micro-chipped, heart-worm tested, have a fecal done, be de-wormed, be spayed/neutered, and will be current on heart-worm and flea/tick prevention.
