Meet Harper! Harper is a beautiful German Shepherd mix that we believe is approximately 3 years old. She was heartworm positive and in an overcrowded shelter in South Carolina when a friend shared her plea, one look at that sweet face and we knew we had to help her! She made her way to Michigan and has completed heartworm treatment and is now healthy and ready to find her furever home.

Harper is young and energetic and her absolute favorite thing to do is play fetch! This girl is athletic and needs a family who is going to make sure she gets lots of exercise and mental stimulation. She would be an excellent candidate for agility training or someone who loves spending time outdoors, Harper is excellent on a leash and would be a great hiking buddy. She also loves the water!

Harper is a typical Shepherd, unsure of new people when she first meets them but once she trusts you she’s a total love bug. After she burns her energy playing fetch and going for walks she likes to snuggle up on the couch at night. She is house and crate trained. She could very likely be left out of the crate during the day, she hasn’t chewed or gotten into anything she isn’t supposed to.

Due to Harper’s size and her unknown background we would recommend she go to a home with older children and no cats. She enjoys playing with her foster siblings and would do well in a home with another playful dog who is her size or smaller.

Harper would benefit greatly from attending obedience training to help her gain confidence, she’s very smart and learns new things quickly and is very eager to please. We recommend positive reinforcement training methods only with our dogs.

Harper is spayed, current on vaccines, microchipped, fecal and heartworm negative, and current on heartworm and flea/tick preventative. Harper is only available to adopters in the state of Michigan, we do not adopt outside of Michigan at this time.
