Meet Happy
Happy is a super special pup who has been in the shelter for almost a whole year! Yes, 365 days as of 5/12/2021!! When she arrived, she was completely traumatized after living at the local dump for the first 3 years of her life, surviving harsh weather conditions with minimal shelter (-20 below in the winter months, and 100+ in the summer), fending for herself against wild animals, dodging constant traffic, and being hit by a car on two occasions. She is certainly a survivor and was uncertain of humans because some were incredibly kind to her, while others were questionable.
After months of working with her and a huge group effort between Sandoval County Animal Protection Officers, Animal Care Attendants, volunteers, Dr. Fallon’s Vet team, and our fantastic dog trainer, Page (from K9Creations). Happy has surpassed our expectations and is now walking on a leash, loading in a vehicle, working on crate training, learning how to “place” on objects, and other basic commands and tricks. This once feral dog is now a loving pet! Now all she needs is a loving, forever home.
If you are potentially interested in meeting Happy, please send in an adoption application found here: https://www.sandovalcountynm.gov/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/FosterAdoptApplication.pdf and submit back to sandovalpets@sandovalcountynm.gov or call 505-867-7642 if you have any questions.
