HISTORY:
Hannah was found as a stray in Louisiana

ABOUT:

Hannah was found running as a stray in Monroe, Louisiana. While on one of our rescue visits to the area, we met Hannah in the open admission shelter there. We could just tell how sweet she was. We took her out to test her with dogs and cats, and she passed with flying colors. We are fortunate enough to have a partner there who helped us rescue her before she made her trek up North.

Hannah is around 5 years old. Her first love is food! She gets really excited for her meals. She jumps and spins like a small pony until you put her bowl down. She is fed separately from the other dogs in her foster home. She eats pretty quickly and isn’t shy about stealing someone else’s food. She is currently in foster care with 2 dogs and cats. She wasn’t quite sure about the cats at first as she may have never lived with them, but she took to the dogs right away. She did well in her original foster home with the resident dogs as well. She is comfortable with the cats now, and has no problem hanging around with the dogs. She sometimes plays with the larger dog, but just for short bursts. Hannah loves comfy spots like the couch! She is crate trained, but is not destructive being left out. She will at times use her crate as a safe spot from storms or when she is ready to go to bed. Being food motivated is a plus when you want her to go in her crate or come in from outside. One sniff of the snack, and you can lead her houndy nose. This also means she may find food that is left out so counter surfing would happen if given the opportunity. She likes to be outside. If she is in a fence, it needs to be completely secure, because she will look for weaknesses and take a walkabout. She loves to go for walks. She may pull a little hard at first because she is excited, but settles in. She isn’t a chewer. She is house trained. She likes to go potty right after she eats. She has a medium energy level, and is an overall sweet girl who just wants to be part of the family. The only time she met children was on a walk and did fine. She wouldn’t hesitate to take food from a child so older children would probably be best.

Hannah would fit into most home situations. She was recently adopted to a home that was in the flight pattern for O'Hare airport. The noise really scared her so she needs to be placed in a home that is not in a jet flight pattern or by railroad tracks. She does fine in quiet residential/ suburban areas. She would love someone who would give her a walk and then hang on the couch with her. Someone to pet those long, hound dog ears!
