Hank Denver's Story

LOYAL, LOVING, AND READY TO BE YOUR ONE-AND-ONLY COMPANION

Hi, I’m Hank!

I’m currently in boarding and doing my best, but what I really want is a home where I can feel safe, loved, and part of the family.

I’m a friendly, affectionate guy—just ask the volunteers and clinic staff who care for me every day. I love attention, lean in for pets, and enjoy being close to my people. I walk great on a leash, stay right by your side, and I already know “sit,” “stay,” and “down.” I’m also housebroken, which I’ve been told is a big plus!

I’m easygoing when it comes to cars, traffic, and loud noises, and I handle other dogs well when passing them on walks or in boarding. I may grumble at bouncy puppies or dogs who don’t respect my space, but who wouldn’t? I’m also good with kids I meet out and about.

I’ll be honest about one thing—I tend to bond deeply with one person, which means it’s important that everyone in the home spends equal time with me so I learn to trust and feel safe with the whole family. I did show some food-protective behavior with one person in my previous home, but not with other. Though with patience and consistency, I can learn to bond with anyone. I just need a family willing to work with me and help me feel secure.

A couple more things you should know: I don’t like having my feet touched, and boarding is really stressful for me. I thrive when people are home often and I’m not left alone for long periods. I just want to be part of the group and know that my people are close by.

If you’re looking for a loyal companion who wants nothing more than to love and be loved, I might be your perfect match. I’m ready to find a steady, patient home that will give me the chance to shine.

– Hank

Great Pyrenees Rescue of Atlanta's Adoption Policy
Great Pyrenees are the southeasts best kept secret. We are a magnificent and majestic breed that is one of the best dogs a family can own - we really are. We are gentle giants loved by all because we combine two characteristics that are hard to beat. First, we are terrific family pets. We are lovable and gentle with children - we love them even when they treat us like massive fluff balls! Second, and where we differ from most house pets, we are protectors. I tend to be the witty observer but my big brother Jenkins is a typical Great Pyrenees and he is amazing as he patrols our property watching for anything unusual. He takes his job very seriously. Great Pyrenees were bred as working dogs and our "job" in the home is to protect our "family". We have regular adoption days - usually every other Saturday from 11am until 1 pm at the Perimeter Petsmart in Atlanta, GA visit our website to see current adoption days
