Hank and Lucy's Story

Meet Hank & Lucy – A Love Story in Fur

Hank and Lucy are the kind of pair that remind you what true friendship looks like. This dynamic duo has been through heartbreak and hardship, yet they’ve never stopped loving each other—or the people who saved them. Their story began when they were abandoned in an apartment: Lucy, heavily pregnant, was left inside, and Hank was tied to the porch outside. No one ever came back.

For at least a week, they cried for help without food or water—until a kind-hearted stranger finally heard them and changed everything. That very night, in the safety of a foster home, Lucy gave birth to six puppies. Though one didn’t survive, the rest of the family has thrived thanks to the love and care they’ve received.

Lucy is a gentle, affectionate mama with the sweetest soul. She loves belly rubs, snuggling on the couch, and zooming around the yard now that she’s finally getting to just be a dog. She’s good with kids, other dogs (especially passive ones), and is fully potty trained—she’ll even use piddle pads if needed. Though she’s still learning basic commands, she’s incredibly food motivated and would likely enjoy leash walks with a little practice. Lucy is the soft, nurturing heart of this bonded pair.

Hank is her goofy, loyal sidekick—her best friend and protector. He’s all about fetch, toys (which he hoards in his bed), and being the center of your attention. He’s good with kids and gets along with other dogs, though he prefers not to share his beloved toys. He’s working on potty training and wears a belly band indoors. Hank loves sitting in laps, riding in cars (especially if he gets to sit with you), and perching on the back of the couch like a little king. He knows “sit” is very food motivated and thrives on affection.

One of Hank’s sweetest moments? The time he stole a chicken nugget—not for himself, but to drop at Lucy’s feet while she was nursing. Like a little "you got this, mama" gesture of love.

Their bond is undeniable, and they truly shine when they’re together. They play beautifully, snuggle sweetly, and will fill your home with laughter, loyalty, and love. Lucy is awaiting her spay, and once the puppies are weaned, both she and Hank will be ready for their forever home—together.

For the right home, we will consider adopting out the duo separately, but If you’re looking for a storybook ending with two of the most loving, resilient dogs you’ll ever meet, Hank and Lucy are ready to write their next chapter with you.

****PLEASE READ CAREFULLY ****QUESTIONS TO ASK YOURSELF BEFORE ADOPTING ANY PET: Adoption should NEVER be an impulsive decision, it must be thought out carefully. Adopting a pet is a 15 to 20+ year commitment. Can we afford to care properly for our new family member? If we're renting do they allow pets here? Is there a pet deposit? Can we afford the pet deposit? What if we get sick, what if our pet becomes ill and has to see a veterinarian? Pets requires routine check-ups, annual vaccines, quality food, many necessities and toys, can we afford this? These are all questions a responsible pet owner must ask themselves. If you can make this type of commitment, please take a moment to email us for an application: friendsofthetas@gmail.com
