Meet Hank

Hank is up for adoption!
Hunky Hank is looking for his forever home. This handsome fella is young, we think about 18 months and is about 70 pounds. This guy is super cool and is going to make someone very happy .We are looking for a person or family to help Hank feel more secure in the world as he had a bit of a rough start. He would do really well with a mellow, happy-go-lucky dog companion to teach him the ropes. Hank isn’t a high energy dog but would love lots of long walks and outdoor play time. We don’t think he would be great at dog parks because he can get a little insecure. He is good with kids, especially kids over age 8 as he is a bit of a tank. Hank is such a special boy who deserves to learn how great CO living is. We would love to find him a home with someone willing to give him lots of stability so he can just relax and be the awesome dog that he is. He has been working with a trainer who would love to help with the transition to his forever home.

The trainer says about Hank: "Hank (I hope you don’t mind, but I’ve been calling him Hunky because he’s a Hunk ;) ) is very affectionate, playful, loves balls but his favorite is tug ropes. He’d be content as an only dog, but I think could be successful in a home with another dog provided he’s got proper introductions and its the right temperament match. He’s not shown any possessiveness of toys—he will guard his food bowl from his neighboring kennel if they’re right by him as he’s eating but doesn’t mind a neighbor otherwise.” she also said: "Hank is a little insecure under the surface—you might not look at him and think he is, but a lot of his behaviors I’ve seen and been watching indicate that he either was under socialized, or just has a natural questioning tendency in his genes. Its nothing outrageous or to be worried about, but knowing this can help going forward by both knowing how to set him up for success, and to understand any behavior issues as well. He’s also a high arousal dog—what I mean by that, is that while he’s not what I would call “high energy”, has the tendency to ramp up and get over excited quickly/easily. He does also calm down quickly, but his trigger is quick and when he’s highly aroused he’s more difficult to connect with... At this point, I wouldn’t characterize him as aggressive at all.”
