Haka Mastiff Mix Benicia, CA

My name is Haka and I am 4 years old. I am a sweet and sensitive boy weighing in at a hefty 94 pounds. My foster mommy says I’m a gentle giant, but I can be protective in my home until I’ve been told that you are a friend. Isn’t that my job? When I first came to my foster home I was a bit anxious, but with love and patience I have learned to relax and that the world is not so scary. I am a smart boy who loves treats and praise and am eager to learn and to please. I’m house trained and neutered and I’m good around other dogs and children. I have a medium to high energy level, as I can seem puppy-like with my enthusiasm for games, play and with greeting you. I have a very strong happy tail! Like most big dogs, I am unaware of my size so calming words when first approaching doggie playmates help, since I can appear intimidating given my size. However, I’m a softie at heart. When my 9 pound Yorkiepoo friend wants to play, I am submissive with her. I am, cuddly, curious, and love giving kisses. I love belly rubs and being told I am a good boy. I’m obedient and I respond well to positive training and calm instruction. My foster mommy is working with me at sitting at every corner when crossing the road and I am doing really well. I want to play with every dog I see, but sometimes my mommy needs to talk me through encounters when other dogs don’t want to play with me. I am a good boy looking for a family who will be patient, continue my training to be the best big boy I can be, and who will love me and make me part of their pack. I am adaptable to changes and am devoted to my people. I have so much love to give and will be a great and loyal companion. Check out my pictures, they show what a sweet boy I am.
