Meet Haizley

The moment you have all been waiting for.....meet Haizley! ?

Hello everyone! It is so great to meet you all! I am so excited to be sharing my story and hopefully finding my forever family real soon! I am sure you are curious how a cutie like me ends up in rescue. Well, I was an owner surrender. I ended up going after a goat and my owners couldn't have that so they surrendered me. I spent a lot of time on a run in my last home so I have a lot of pent up energy and am like a bull in a china shop currently. I am so sweet, but also very energetic and will need someone who can handle my energy and outgoingness. Don't worry, I am about to go more in- depth about my personality!

My name is Haizley and I am a 2 year old female Bernese Mountain Dog. I currently weigh 67lbs but came into rescue pretty emaciated. I should top out somewhere close to or in the 80lb range. I am a pretty social girl. I do well when it comes to meeting new people. When we are out in public I am calm and friendly. At home, I will try to give hugs and kisses when someone comes over. I have not had the chance to go to any public outings. I am very excitable so may be a little to energetic to be out and about right now. I definitely have an active personality. I am always dancing around you, slamming my tail into things, and jumping around. I am always by your feet as well so this kind of behavior needs to be something my owner can handle. All I want is lovings but right now I am very energetic and excited when I ask for them. Once you start loving on me I calm down and slide down onto the floor and roll over for belly rubs. Sometimes I will also get up on my hind legs, and paw at you when I want attention. Like I said, I take wanting lovings to the extreme right now. I am just so excited for attention! I do well on car rides, and will plop down on the seat. I do walk well on a leash, but may try and stop in front of you or give hugs when I get excited.
Yeah, I am definitely a total lovebug! I just haven't quite learned how to go about it yet. If you are ready to be smothered in lovings, then let us move on to my house manners. So far, I have not attempted to chew on anything that I shouldn't. I have not had the chance to play fetch or in any water so am unsure if I like doing either. I do love playing with toys, and have a favorite toy that I like carrying around. I am pretty crazy about food. I will try and stick my head in the food bowl before you even set it down and finish a big bowl in seconds. I am not really aggressive towards other dogs, but if they try and get into my bowl I will get upset and tell them to back off. I will also try to steal any treat that is being given, and will most certainly try to counter surf. You have to remember that I was pretty skinny when I came in, and spent my days on a run outside. So, I am still learning my manners. Eventually, I will settle down but for the time being my new family needs to be willing to work on this with me. I don't seem to have any issues with resource guarding. I would NOT make a good apartment dog. I am very energetic and make a lot of ruckus when I am wagging my tail(which is pretty much all the time). I will need a home with a larger yard. Being leash walked won't be enough to keep me exercised. I am working on my potty training. I am almost fully trained, but with a new home environment/routine I may have a few accidents still. I CANNOT be kenneled. I am a very energetic girl, and panic when I am locked in a kennel. When my foster is gone or at night, I am given free roam of the house and do great. As of right now, the only time I have barked is when the others dogs are barking at something.
I am good with other dogs. I have also been around cats and do great. I have not been around any kids. However, since I am very energetic and have no concept of personal space the kids needs to be 12+ in my new home.

So, what are your thoughts so far? I am a work in progress but I am also one of the sweetest and most lovable girls around! If you still feel like I am the girl for you, let me share what I would like in my new home now. First off, I need someone who is very energetic and is home all day. I love being with my people and would probably have separation anxiety if I was left all alone. If my owner works, I will need another playful dog in the home to keep me company. I am also looking for a home that won't kennel me as I can't handle it. I am also looking for someone who is very dog savvy. I am not for someone that is going to be a first time dog owner.
Long story short, I am looking for an energetic family that has other dogs and/or is home all day, can handle my extreme lovings, has big dog experience, and doesn't kennel.

And if the above wasn't enough, here is what my foster says about me
"Haizley is one of the best dogs around....for the right family that is. She is VERY energetic. I believe she will settle down eventually, but right now she is very high strung. When she wants attention she will dance around you and knocks her tail into everything which is very loud. She will also stand on her hind legs like meerkat and paw at you. She is a total goofball that is learning how to be part of the family. She does great with the other dogs and cats. She absolutely loves attention and will roll over on her back and stay like that for as long as you pet her. She will also come on the couch to cuddle. She is a dog who seems to have been deprived of attention, so she does anything and everything to get your attention so you will pet her. This won't be an issue for someone who knows dogs and that she will settle down. However, if that person just wants her because she is a Bernie it isn't going to work. She needs someone who will love ALL of her, and has the time and patience to work with her. The end result will be one hell of a dog. You cannot find anyone more loving and wanting to please than Haizley. She is VERY food motivated, and is sure to steal your heart! She would do best with an energetic family that either has another playful dog(s) or is home all day and is very energetic. I am talking daily walks, hikes, jogs, etc. Not just a walk here and there."

Welp, that is everything folks. Now I will wait and see if anyone applies for me at https://www.pyrpawsandfluffytailsrescue.com/adoption-app
My adoption fee is $225. That includes my DHLPP, Rabies, and Bordatella shots. I will be micro-chipped, heart-worm tested, ehrlichia tested, have a fecal done, be de-wormed, be spayed/neutered, and will be current on my heart-worm and flea/tick prevention.

I am being fostered in Kiowa, OK. I have no qualms about going out of state if my adopters don't live in Oklahoma. All I ask is that they come pick me up. Those transports are too stressful and this rescue doesn't put us on those or ship us.
