Gwen's Story

If you are interested in any National Newfoundland Rescue dog, please apply directly with NNR @ https://nationalnewfoundlandrescue.com/adopt/

Meet Gwen! Gwen is a 6 year old 90 pound athletic purebred Newfoundland currently being fostered in Michigan. This spunky girl will definitely keep her forever family entertained. For 6 years old, Gwen still has a lot of pep in her step. She likes to race around the house, up the stairs, or in the yard and loves to play with other active dogs. Did we mention she is able to clear a 4ft gate? Because of that, adopters should have a 5ft minimum fence or be committed to walking her on a leash regularly. Gwen is a clever girl who needs mental and physical stimulation.

Gwen is also a cuddle bug and loves snuggling up with her people on the couch! She loves to entertain her foster by rolling around on her back and talking to herself.

Now lets go over what Gwen needs to work on. She is a trash bandit. If your trashcan is out in the open, Gwen will find it and go shopping for scraps. Remember that whole jumping over a 4ft gate? Well that was to get to the trash can. Her adopter will need to contain trash in a closet or cabinet in the beginning while she is learning. Gwen’s lucky adopter will have free access to NNR’s certified dog trainer to help her overcome this behavior. As long as food is put away, Gwen does very well unsupervised when home alone.

Gwen is great with all people and dogs. Cats are unknown but she does not appear to have a strong prey drive so an adopter with a dog savvy cat and willing to work on fostering a positive relationship between the species will likely be successful.

If you are looking for a companion who will be happy to lounge on the couch with you or go out for an adventure, Gwen is your girl!

Gwen is pending spay but would love to do that in her adoptive home (paid for by rescue) so she can get busy bonding and settling in to her forever home now!

If you are interested in any NNR pets, please apply directly with NNR. NNR adopts out to the lower 48 states but does not arrange transport. Adopters will have to travel to the foster dog.

NNR is not a first come first served adoption group. We place dogs with the best fit for the dog.

https://nationalnewfoundlandrescue.com/adopt/
