Meet Gus

Do you remember in school the one's who were "perfect student, but talks a lot"
If I was writing a report card for Gus, that would be his!
He gets along wonderfully with cats, dogs, and kids! He is very playful. He does decent on the leash and good in public. He may have an excited accident at first in a new place, and while he did well with no accidents in his foster home, since coming back to the kennel he shares with a non-potty trained pup he has had frequent accidents. He is still all puppy and will need an active family or a furry friend to run and play with.
He will go into his kennel willingly, but the second you leave the room, he doesn't just bark, he howls, he sings, and he cries. LOUDLY! (please see the attached video to know a sample of what you will deal with.) We have tried cbd, kongs, and trazadone from his vet (NOTHING will keep him quiet if he doesn't want to be - but this is only when he is left alone) - update here we have tried a training collar and this has greatly improved his outbursts.
He will settle down after 30 mins - an hour until he hears activity again, but because of this Gus cannot go to an apartment. He does FANTASTIC on car rides! Due to his human dependence he would do great in a big rig, with an active family (with no close neighbors) for when you do need to kennel or leave him, or someone who is home a lot. He would love to have a fur sibling and has great temperament with other animals. He LOVES to run and play with other dogs!
This little guy is about 8 months old and 36 lbs. We truly have NO idea on breed, but due to his two different colored eyes and his vocal tendencies he has to have some husky in him. Due to his body structure and coat he seems more beagle or another small breed. I do not think he will get much bigger than he is now.
He is neutered and fully vaccinated. He was found as a stray wandering for 4 days that we know of in California, MO when he sustained an injury to his hind leg. Since it was pouring down rain - I picked him up and he stayed at the vet for a week hoping an owner would claim. They didn't and he tried a foster in an apartment, besides the vocal issues he did good, so he is back at the rescue awaiting his forever home now.
Gus is FREE, but a meet and greet with the potential adopters will be required.
Please reach out if you are interested in meeting Gus or have any questions
